The Elder Gods - Leigh Eddings, David

I have to say, having read "The Elenium" and "The Tamuli" series, as well as "Belgarath The Sorcerer", "Polgara The Sorceress", "The Riven Codex" and "The Redemption of Althalus", I expected this book to be up to the same, rather cracking, standards. It wasn't. There isn't the same connection with the majority of characters as there has been in previous novels, the same development of them (Redbeard and Rabbit, aside. Whilst having read most of David Eddings work I have only strayed into the world of David & Leigh Eddings once when I read 'The Redemption of Althalus' which I found to be a great read. The Elder Gods I thought would be more of the same and in part I was right. The book has great characters which come to life on the page. The 'Eddings' humour is still there all be it a little predictable sometimes and there is a different kind of plot as the gods help the people of the realm against the creatures of the wasteland.
