The essence of any Elder Scrolls role-playing game has always been simple: letting you do what you want, and making sure that you have fun while doing it. This game involves you to make so many different choices; do you want people to like you? Do you want to be a Wizard or a Soldier? Do ... Read review

playing game. It's a direct port of the PC version and truly shows off the power of the Xbox. You can do virtually anything you want: there is a main quest but also hundreds of side quests (over 350 of them) and the game is completely non-linear. You can be a hero, a villain, a pilgrim, a saint or even a vampire. You name it, and chances are you can be it. There are also no geographical constraints; you can wander where you want, when you want. The amount of control you have in Morrowind is stunning. When you create a character, you can either choose pre-made classes, have one assigned to you depending on how you answer a questionnaire or create your own class. Morrowind's magic system is great--not only do you have seven schools of magic (Conjuration, Illusion, Destruction, Restoration, Mysticism, Alternation, Enchant), but you also have an Alchemy system, from which you can create potions from ingredients you can either buy or find in the wild. In addition, you can even trap the souls of enemies you kill and bind them into items to create a magic artefact. Another boon to this game is the thieving system. You can pick locks, disarm traps, pick pockets, learn acrobatics, taunt, insult or intimidate others, or haggle for better deals in the market. The game itself is gorgeous. The graphics, sounds, frame-rate: all smooth as silk. You can spend hours just looking at all the outlandish scenery, picking the flowers (literally). The musical score is rousing and never gets tired. All the different creatures and people have their own voices and sounds. This is a game that makes anything but high-end computers cry and it works on the Xbox without a hitch. Morrowind is a PC-style RPG for a PC-style console. This game is reason enough to buy an Xbox, and will have hard-core RPG fans singing its praises for years to come. --Bryan Karsh Amazon.com

...Scrolls III is by far the biggest game on Xbox .. Its a classic for the computer and when I found out it was also a game for the Xbox I wanted to see if there was any differences in how the game plays. I expected the level of graphics to rapidly decrease and the configuration to be a lot harder to use .. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the way the game looks an feels on a Xbox is exactly the same as when on a PC.

Vvardenfell, the setting of Morrowind is a culturally and geographically diverse place, dominated by the volcanic Red Mountain and the surrounding wastelands. The key is to search the new lands for different places and people. The magic of Morrowind is that one minute you could be gazing up at the moon and stars and being chased by a mob of people the next, any place in Morrowind can quickly turn deadly. Everywhere you go you ...

Advantages: Hugely Open World, Limitless Gameplay Disadvantages: Not for fans of non-linear games
The Elderscrolls III: Morrowind is without a doubt the definitive XBOX roleplaying game. If you have the console you should get this game, and if you dont have the console - get it on PC!
Most RPG's are open ended, (or at least the good ones are), that is - there is plenty to do, and at least more than one way to do it. This fact is all to true for Morrowind, as it provides you with literally hundreds of thousands of things to do and millions of ... ...on deck, you'll quickly learn the basics of the controller system, and in no time you'll be off the ship and heading down to the census and excise office. Here you'll choose your race, (of which there is around 10 to pick from), and your looks, don't worry too much about this as you'll be bound to restart the game again and again untill you find a race you really like. From there it's off into the office, where you'll customize your character further ...

Advantages: Massive in every sense of the word, Immersive, Huge appeal to RPGers and those less familiar with the genre alike Disadvantages: Difficult to put down, may not appeal to those who are not willing to put a lot of time into a game
...too rarely to computer games, the main strength of Morrowind is that it has both and combines them with a wonderfully original and believable open ended playing world. In short it achieves what in my opinion every RPG should.
I have never considered myself a game addict or anything like that, I enjoy playing on the X-Box or PS2 on weekends and know a good bit about games but I’m not exactly the type of person whose head is in his computer 24/7. ... ...Sound
When I got the game home and began to play the first thing that hit me was the amazing graphics. The game begins with the main character (who incidentally you design entirely by selecting gender, race and physical and mental traits) waking up on a prison transport heading for the isle of Morrowind. Firstly the level of detail on the items and people inside the ship struck me but the real shock hit me when I got on deck, the ship floated beside ...

Iwas also surprised about the amounts of skills and activities you can learn and participate in and in awe of the extensive weaponry and armour that was availabl to me. Its also important to keep an eye on your map as it is easy to get lost in the hugely extensive landscape and can be frustrating at lower levels as it is easy to die without putting up a decent fight. One you understand the map system ...

...monsters. Start to play and the horrible truth dawns... you are gently steered to an ultimately unrewarding conclusion. Not any more. This is by far the best RPG of all time. Starting as an unknown character the world is literally at your feet. Choose you own destiny.Yes there is a story to the maingame but you do not have to follow it. The gameworld is massive and allthough there is quick travel by boat and Stiltriders to the towns , it is often ... ...I would advise doing the blades quests (main storyline) and Joining the Fighters Guild, as many of the missions take you to similar areas of the world so you can often perform multiple quests and advance in both level of character stats and standing within the guilds. There are some points you will find yourselves gripped trying o complete a quest especially treasure hunting when you think you have searched everywhere. A very early mission asks you ...
