Enid Blyton is one of the most successful children's writers ever. Her prolific output of 700 books has been translated into more than 40 languages and sold in excess of 400 million copies worldwide.First pulication of this book was May 1939.
My mum was given this book as a youngster and then passed it onto myself when i was 10, I read it cover to cover and on finishing I started it all again.
This is a gorgeous fairy tale for you to read alone or to capture the attention of youngsters as young as 5 if you are willing to sit and read the whole book to them.because once you have started they wont let you finish and you wont want to stop either. But in my own opinion it has gotten better over the years that I have grown up as I now understand more of the terminology used.
I feel that children under the age of about 10 will probably have more difficulty in understanding every word but none the less I dont feel it will go 'over thier heads'.As the characters in the story all have 'fun' names. The book is about when Jo, Bessie and Fanny climb up to the top of the Faraway Tree, they meet Silky, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man. Their new friends show them an exciting secret - how to visit lots of strange and magical lands, where they have many thrilling adventures.
I still have the book and will be passing it onto my daughter when she can appreciate the book for all its glory.

Welcome to Ciao! As below. I loved these books as a kid but agree they are dated and the gender stereotypes now inappropriate.
