DavidCrystal has risen to become one of the world's leading authorities on language. A former professor of Linguistics at the University of Reading, he has written and edited a number of language-related books, including "The EnglishLanguage", "English as a Global Language" and "Discover Grammar".
The version that I received is the second edition of this highly successful book - a second edition being necessary because of the amount of new research undertaken into language and linguistics, changing political boundaries, and differences from year to year in the number of speakers of a language and geographical distribution of languages. It currently retails at £15.37 on Amazon, a reduction from the RRP of £21.95, and being 488 pages long you definitely get your money's worth!
