This was the first book to do with I.T. that I have read. Having just started a Masters in the subject our first module was C++ and this was the recommended book. It's incredibly well written, everything is nicely spaced out and it is not an off-putting book in the slightest. It is an ideal first read on this subject with exercises for you to do at the end of each chapter. I certainly do recommend it to anyone who has an interest of learning C++ as it will explain the basics very well and provide you with a good foundation from where to expand on the knowledge learnt.
