Impressive but hasn't worked miracles
Advantages Detailed interview, punchy CV.
Disadvantages Only CV, no other job hunting advice (that cost extra).

Impressive but hasn't... |
|---|
I submitted my CV for a free professional review. The next day someone rang me and started to give me some good suggestions before - surprise surprise - deciding that it should be professionally written by them.
The cost will vary depending on the salary you are looking for. It will be charged at a day's salary at the top end of the required salary scale. Plus VAT. I've been told that the going rate for interviews and CV writing is about £150 an hour.At the scheduled time I was rung by their consultant. He went through my existing CV asking questions for an hour. It is like being in a job interview where the interviewer is on your side. He was impressive actually. He really knew my industry and asked relevant, insightful questions.
The CV that I received a few days later is much sharper and focussed than my own one. It glosses over my weaknesses and emphasises my strengths which really sells me very well.I have submitted it to various job websites and have applied for jobs with it but nothing has come of it yet.
The cost was several hundred pounds but for the time the interview and writing the CV must have taken it is competitive. If I get a better paid job with it I will consider the cost a good investment.

I've always been somewhat unsure about what these services can really offer for all that money.
