I dont believe in Ghosts

Advantages: A truely horrifying read
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted

...Investigator, David Ash, goes to the town of Sleath where some sightings have been seen and weird things are beginning to happen. David is a non believer of ghosts but something has swayed his opinion many years ago when he came across another world within this own. He still denies the existence of the paranormal but somewhere deep in his subconcious, he is screaming with fear.

In the village of Sleath reports from a widowed mother ...

...tale that grips you from the beginning. One word of caution though, if you get the chance read the Haunted first because it involves the same character (David Ash) but is set prior to the Ghosts of Sleath. There is some references to the Haunted in this story that perhaps spoilt it slightly when you come to read that one, they are nothing major but it would have been better to have followed the sequence. It would have also have probably heightened ...
...already know the main character. Still, its no harm if you don’t read Haunted first because they are two separate stories in their own right. Anyway, back to the story. Its set in a picturesque little village hidden away in the Chiltern Hills, the village itself is how you envisage a traditional English country village … pond, green, church, local pub and (central to the story) a manor house. The long standing owners of this Manor house ...

The Ghosts of Sleath

Advantages: Fantastic read for horror enthusiasts
Disadvantages: James Herbert can't write fast enough

...insist you have to scare the pants off yourself. In fact I would put this as a second only to 'The Dark' . If you like scary books and you've never read a good one yet then James Herbert is a good place to start with this one as a first. It has all the usual twists and turns of a Herbert, and the creepies to go with it. The story starts as David Ash thinks he has run over a small boy on the bridge as he enters the small village of Sleath, But as ...

James Herbert - The Ghosts of Sleath.

Advantages: Plenty of twists and turns, and surprises. An easy imaginable place.
Disadvantages: Very Similar too many of his others novels.

...of James Herberts Books. The Ghosts of Sleath was a very good read but not unlike his others works. If you enjoyed The Magic Cottage, Once and Nobody True then you'll love it! Its not quite as fast and compelling to read as '48. But it takes the place of the awful films they put on now adays. The story continues from James Herberts 'The Haunted'. It takes the Story of David Ash a Psychical reserchers on from his meeting at Edbrook house, and how ...
...rises for him to find the turth once again for the village of Sleath. When David Ash Arrives at the village of Sleath and automatically feels the burden that holds this Village, the truth evades him, and sends me all over the village looking for the Truth. With shocking accidents as the villagers are slowy affected by their surrounding! A very good read and an interesting look into Ghosts and their haunting, espeically after some of his other views. ...

The Magic Cottage

Advantages: It is a great book
Disadvantages: None

the bird that comes to there kitchen window every morning and then other animals start turniong up.When Midge and Mike move into the cottage strange things happen Midge illustrations come to life and when Mike plays it sounds so beautiful. There is a group of synigists that are after the cottage these synigists are people who believe in peace and that sort of thing. The characters in the book are great Midge and Mike have been written into the book superbly Midge and Mike are characters that you like and you enjoy reading about them. James Herbert is a great writer and has written some excellent books such as the fog, others, the ghosts of sleath and the haunted and a few others.
