Josephine Cox is the author of many bestsellers based on her home town of Blackburn. In this story we meet Leonard Measr who ruthlessly controls his wife and children punsihing them for any disobedience. He has a dark secret in the illegitimate daughter he forced his sister to care for. She is now an adult and determined to find the father who abondoned her. This is her story. I love Cox's books which are based on my hometown of Blackburn. She is accurate in place names and it is easy to picture her storeis unfolding in the streets I travel every day.
