I coveted this book from the day it came out, but only recently persuaded myself to buy it. I was in no way disapointed. The story is simple, and on reading the summary, it seemed it could drag on a bit - the story of a young girl lost in the woods. Far from this, the story became more and more compelling the further into it I got. The only character you are really involved with is Trisha, and this in itself shows how well the book is written. You never get fed up of the story through the one person's eyes, as often happens with other writers. Like with every other Stephen King book, I finished it in the early hours of the morning because I couldn't make myself put it down. Well worth reading.

Stephen King has been for so long the master of the thick blockbuster horror paperback ... more
that it is salutary to be reminded of the quieter writer of shorter, tighter stories that he also is. His new novella could hardly be simpler--a nine-year-old girl...
