First Impressions
My first impressions of this book is that it looks like a traditional book, perhaps a little old fashioned in style, but definitely nostalgic, basically it how I remember some of the books I had as a child (those that had be in the family for years). It was this look that immediately drew me to this book sitting on the shelf of the bookshop. I also noticed that there are many other similar titles available for various different types of people. My initial though was that it would be a great read for my niece (who is 10), and I thought I might get a quick read of it when she wasn't looking. The Book
The contents of the book is very expansive and covers all sorts of activities for girls, I would think it would be best for girls aged 7+. Some of the activities covered include: How to host the best sleepover How to train a dog to shake hands How to save the planet How to deal with bullies How to be a natural Beauty How to make a bird feeder How to do a sudoku puzzle How to revise for exams How to be the best at text messaging How to tell what someone is like from their handwriting It covers things that all children of today are aware of, some educational, some a little silly perhaps, and some that are very useful. Each topic in the book is well explained in a way that most children can understand, with a few line drawings to accompany some of the text.
My Thoughts
It is a fun book that most girls can enjoy, perhaps not all topics would suit all tastes, however, the lay-out of the book (with detailed contents page) allows readers to instantly find the topic of interest, the book can also just as easily be read from beginning to end, and referred to when needed!
I would definitely recommend this book, and its equivalent book for boys, I know one of my nephews is hooked on that version! I think it is one that children can go back to time and time again and not lose interest in. :o)
