Itís probably going to be quite painful to write a review of Richard Laymonís The Glory Bus, since I hear itís the last of his posthumous manuscripts that will be published. Needless to say, after his sad and untimely death, it has been a real treat to see a steady stream of his works still ... Read review

Richard Laymon - The Glory Bus ("Into The Fire" in the US) Review with images

AdvantagesThe Glory Bus ends the flow of posthumous manuscripts on a glorious note.

DisadvantagesNone.

"...a review of Richard Laymonís The Glory Bus, since I hear itís the last of his posthumous manuscripts that will be published. Needless to say, after his sad and untimely death, it has been a real treat to see a steady stream of his works still reaching the bookstores, but the supply was always going to be finite. Since I have read all the other Richard Laymon novels, one day soon it will be time to start re-reading them! Itís fitting that this last ..." Read review

A free ride to hell ... (The Glory Bus - Richard Laymon)

AdvantagesOriginal plot & great twists

DisadvantagesSexual sadists everwhere in the script

"...Glory Bus~~~ The Glory Bus is the 2005 novel by American horror writer Richard Laymon. With an impressive collection of popular novels The Glory Bus forms part of his first works, however it was released 4 years after his death. ~Synopsis: Norman Wouldn't say boo to a goose, so he's never going to throw bad boy Duke out or hitchhiker Boots out of his car. Together the lawless pair take him on a journey that's heading straight for the electric chair ..." Read review

The glorious Glory Bus

Advantagesexcellent read, very gripping.

Disadvantagesnone

"...murder of a husband and the kidnapping of a wife which is very gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat and i was quite shocked when the kidnapper ended up dead as you believe the story is all about him and his evil deeds. The story changes somewhat as the girl who was kidnapped finds herself rescued by a very strange man on an old school bus full of shop dummies. Again the story did not go where i was expecting as he never intends her any harm. ..." Read review

Although Rodney isn't dead he soon will be when the mysterious Sharpe turns up and saves her. Pamela then awakes on a bus where the driver will not speak to her "while the bus is in motion - it's against company policy!" Pamela soon discovers the bus is full of mannequins ..." Read review

A good read

AdvantagesAnother brillian book by this author

DisadvantagesNot keen on ending

"...laymon (the cellar, island and the stake) has done a brilliant job up until the end which i thought was poor. The glory bus was brought out in 2005 and you can get it at most major bookshops for about £6.99. You could probably get in cheaper on the net. The book revolves around two main characters. Theres pamela who has just got married, kidnapped by rodney, a rapist and murderer who has had a crush on her since school. Then there's shy, quiet ..." Read review
