Richard laymon (the cellar, island and the stake) has done a brilliant job up until the end which i thought was poor. The glory bus was brought out in 2005 and you can get it at most major bookshops for about £6.99. You could probably get in cheaper on the net.
The book revolves around two main characters. Theres pamela who has just got married, kidnapped by rodney, a rapist and murderer who has had a crush on her since school. Then there's shy, quiet norman who goes into a garage to pay for his petrol and comes back to find someone sat in his car demanding a ride.
The book kicks off with rodney kidnapping pamela, leaving a female corpse to take her place in her house, with her husband and setting it on fire. Nobody will realize that pamela has been kidnapped, they will mistake the corpse for her. Pamela manages to escape after being saved by a man driving an old bus, who shoots rodney in the head. She helps the bus driver (sharpe) to dispose of rodneys body and then boards the bus. . Pamela really wants to get off the bus, when she does she is in the small town of pits with a population of 6. Little does she know that they are all cannibals.
Back to norman being terrorised by the man (duke) he found in his car. They are driving wherever duke wants and on the way they pick up boots a female hitchiker. Things go from bad to worse for norman who assists in killing a hotel. They break down and end up on the same bus as pamela was, reaching the town of pits they decide to take over the town seeing as they have the guns. Will they realize exactly what they are up against???
I thought the book was good but not one of his best, although i would recommend it to richard laymon fans!!
