Advantages A good strategy and actione game rolled into one

Disadvantages Maybe a little too easy and main character not mobile enough

Godfather II is loosely based around the Godfather trilogy including characters from the film, related storylines and just about enough violence, gumbas and vintage cars to keep you entertained!

PLOT -

The story is based around your character Dominic who has been promoted up through the ranks from the last game to position of boss to look after the Corleone family. Michael Corleone makes an appearance as your advisor as his character is having to lay low due to the interference from the law, as in the second film. Your job is to take over other families both in america and abroad and grow your family into a notorious and dangerous set of individuals intent on taking over multiple crime rings such as money laundering rings, drug rings and prostitution rackets without being don over! Get it!?

CHARACTERS -

You play Dominic, the original character from the first game. He has no resemblence to any character portrayed on the films.

Michael Corleone - Al Pacino did not lend his likeness or voice to the game therefore the Michael you see in the game only bears similarities to the Godfather character.

Hyman Roth - Likeness and voice taken from the films which adds to the reality of the whole thing. Played like in the film by Lee Strasberg. His jewish mob have had ties with the Corleone family for years. Speculated that the character was based on real life jewish gangster Meyer Lansky.

Tom Hagen - Robert Duvall adds his voice to the game and is involved as your consigliere. His voice and features are a great addition to the game

Fredo Corleone - The older brother of Michael who was looked over as head of the family. His original film look and voice are also used here which makes you feel more involved in the family

GAMEPLAY -

The Godfather II takes on more or less of the gameplay as in the first game. If you havent played the first game then it is very much in the same mould as GTA with a third person shooter available to roam around in an open world. There are many other similarities with GTA as well in the fact that you have side missions doing 'favours' for members of the public in return for information on a member of a rival family or deeds for cops, lawyers and judges where you can obtain various things to help you on your way.

You can jump in cars and drive aimlessly into buildings or people if you may choose, select a variety of weaponary, choose the type of death your victim will receive and all with a lot of strategy too it as well. Mix it up with the other heads of the families to take over shops, buildings etc but you must do it with a thoughtful head on, something that i like a lot about this game, its not just mindless running around shooting fools.

Theres also a lot of emphasis on upgrading not just yourself but your crew, each crew member has a different skill including, safe cracking, muscle, medic and explosives expert. A specific member will need to be taken to a job if you need to break into the bank or rough up some poor employee. The more armour you give them, the more likely you can send them off on their own and get the to extort businesses and get some bigtime cash for your family.

OVERALL -

In a nutshell, Godfather II is mainly for the lovers of the film who want to play their part in the running of the family and crack some heads! Its action/strategy elements are a breath of fresh air and the interaction with other characters is good.
