-(History Of EA)-
Founded in 1982, 'Electronic Arts' has long been one of the leading developers of games across all platforms. EA continues to put out popular franchises like 'Need For Speed' and 'Burnout' from its studios in Canada, Orlando, Redwood City, Tokyo, Chicago, and Los Angeles, as well as other locations around the world.

-(The Story)-
The game starts with you as a young boy as you watch your dad being murdered by mobsters. Fast-forward a few years to the wedding from the first film as your mother convinces The Godfather to let you into the family. You play as a created character who wasn't in the film. But the character fits into the game very well and doesn't feel out of place. Although the game has a new character, the game sticks quite closely to the film and does have some of the scenes from the film and has most of the original characters from the film. Though the game sticks closely to the films, you don't have to have watched the film to understand the story which means the game is available for more than the fans of the films.

-(The Controls)-
The controls are very responsive. At the start of the game you are taught the controls by Lucabrasi as you beat up thugs to learn hand-to-hand combat controls. To fight hand-to-hand you need to use the right analogue stick. If you move the stick upwards you can hit them but if you pull the stick back, then push it upwards, you can strick even harder. The shooting controls are like any FPS, you have your shooting, auto aim and reload buttons. You also have your standard car controls as well. It will take some skill to master these controls but they're not really hard to learn. The controls are very responsive as well as challenging to learn.

-(The Gameplay)-
The gameplay is unique and superb. There are three different styles of gameplay in this game, which include Shooting; Driving and Hand-To-Hand Combat. These styles of gameplay are all fun to play and are not clunky or broken to play as well. The most type of gameplay you'll do is shooting as many of the opponents have guns on them. There are many guns to use, including a snub nosed shotgun, a tommy gun and a magnum revolver. There is also Dynamite and Molotovs to use as well to cause an explosion. You can use walls and boxes to hide and use cover. You can still shoot in cover and use the auto-aim in cover as well. The auto-aim is quite simple, you lock on and fire untill the enemy dies. Luckily this doesn't make Shooting too easy. You can also fire without locking on to enemies if you want a challenge.

The driving is probably the second gameplay style you'll use most, as you have to drive to locations to start missions. Some missions involve driving as well. The driving is just as fun as the shooting parts but one disappointment is that you can't shoot while someone else drives, instead you drive while someone shoots. This doesn't affect the gameplay though as you probably won't be bothered by it.

The hand-to-hand combat is probably the most fun to play. You can either lock on to the enemy or just punch anywhere. You can use weapons like steel pipes and baseball bats to hit harder. You probably won't get into Hand-To-Hand combat much but you do use it quite a bit.

The story missions are all different. None of them feel repetitive and they all last quite a bit. They all involve all the styles of gameplay and they are all used excellently. To start a mission you usually have to drive to a starting point and then the mission will start. You then have to complete an objective. Once you've completed all the objectives you will have completed the mission. When you complete a mission you receive money and respect. You can use money to customize your persons look and to buy guns and medicine from the doctor when your health is low.

You can earn money by completing missions, killing enemies and by extorting businesses or Rackets. To extort, you need to go into a shop and talk to a shop owner. The owner probably won't let pay you so you need to change his mind by either beating the up owner or trashing his shop. There is a meter under the owners health bar. You need to pressure the owner so the owner will pay you, but push the owner too far and he'll fight back, or if you kill him then he can't pay you. Extortion is really fun to do and you'll have to extort a lot to complete the game. There are lots of things to do in Godfather, including Story Missions, Hit Missions, Extorting and taking over rival families.

Hit missions are basically when you have to do a job and you get paid for it. It's like Hitman, except in 1940's. They're fun to do and will take up time. To take over a rival family you need to complete the game then bomb the families compound (the family's hideout). This is challenging as there are lots of armed guards and this will need effort to do.You can start a mob war by kiilling rival families members. When a Mob war is started what will happen is that if you're in the rivial families city then you will be constantly fired at by the enemy. To win you need to either bomb their compound or pay an FBI agent to get the heat of your enemies so they lose interest in you. If you die or they bomb your Compound then you lose. You can bribe quite a bit in the godfather. Like I said before, you can bribe an FBI agent to end a mob war. You can also bribe a policeman to lose heat. There are cops in The Godfather and they put up a great fight. They will try to run you down or shoot your car so it explodes. To annoy cops you can either drive crazy or kill people. To lose heat you can either pay a policeman or ditch them. The A.I is quite smart. They will take cover like you do and fire rapidly.

You can make your own person in The Godfather. The creation system is similar to the creation system founded in EA Sports games. You can customize anything from hair, to ears and

even clothes. The clothes include jackets, suits and hats. Like GTA, you have a safe house where you can save, replenish health and get weapons. Even though it uses one thing thats the same as GTA, If you start to think 'Oh no, not another GTA clone' DONT as this game does alot of things different from GTA and it has enough moments to set itself apart from GTA and it's stands tall on it's own.

-(The Graphics)-
Unfortunately, The graphics are not too good, but they're not hideous. A lot of the character and car models are recycled, meaning there's not much variety to the look. NY looks very good and the explosions look great, but if the explosion is big, then the frame rate drops. Also the building interiors are heavily recycled which takes more variety out of the graphics. A highlight in the graphics are the facial expressions. You can really tell if someone is angry, sad, happy or ill as the faces look great. If the character, car and interiors models were varied and not recycled and the frame rate was sorted, then the graphics may have been better.

-(The Sound)-
Unlike the graphics, the sound really exceeds. The original music from the film is used as the in-game music and that is really good as the soundtrack was really eerie and sounded excellent. The voice-acting is excellent. Some of the cast from the original film acted for the game. The dialogue is great and really clear. If you can't understand them you can turn on subtitles but you shouldn't need them. The explosions sound excellent. You can really tell somethings blown up. The car sounds great as well. But you'd expect that as EA also made two great racing car series.

-(Replay Value)-
The game is very lengthy, lasting at least 14 hours, and there's lots of replay value to boot. Once you've completed all the story missions you're only about 25% through the game. To get 100% you need to complete all the Hit missions, Extort all the businesses and rackets, take over all the families and become Don of NY. Trust me, it takes alot of time to do all that.

-(Score)-
Controls=10
Gameplay=10
Graphics=7
Sound=10
Replay Value=10
Overall Score=9.4/10=Outstanding

-(Ending Comments)-
The Godfather:The Game uses the Godfather license really well. This game has very responsive controls, different and excellent gameplay, superb voice acting and lots of replay value. Unfortunately the graphics are not up to standard of the PS2, which lets down the game, but thanks to the rest of the game, this game still deserves a high score. If you loved the Godfather film then you'll love this as well and if you like exploring games and not just plowing through them then you should like this as well. If you're looking for something as beautiful as Shadow Of the Colosuss then you won't find it here, but if you're like me, are not bothered by graphics then you would do yourself a favour to buy this.
