I was fortunate enough to be able to read this as one whole book. My wife told me of the torture of having to wait for the next installment. As a result of the way it was written and released every chapter, or mini-book has a real cliffhanger of an ending. The story revolves around the guards on death row one summer during the 1930s (I think), and the mysterious inmate John Coffey, on death row for the rape and murder of 2 little girls. Coffey is a remarkable man with a God given gift, so why would he do something so terrible? The book is an absolute joy to read, that can't be put down - I read the 2nd half of the book in one sitting!

Also made a great film, but read the book first!
