The main theme of this book is one man's imprisonment for a double murder and follows his time in prison, where his extraordinary gifts shape the lives of those around him.
The book was sold originally in six seperate parts, the waiting for each episode was unbearable. Stephen King likes to work in a similar manner to charles dickens as I expect most of his constant readers will have already gathered.
I enjoyed this book very much, and I didn't expect the outcome to be as it was, which makes a change from alot of books I have read.
The film is excellent too, with Tom Hanks as the prison warder, taking a great role (I think he won an oscar to boot)
The book is very poignant, but is still readable by the blokes too.
