Bulgakov is considered one of the great writers of the 20th century, and with bookssuch as the master and margherita, fatal eggs and heart of a dog its easy to see why. Despite being rather bizarre the message under the surface can be seen clearly and is a wonderful satire on the state of russina society as it was at the time of writing. The way bulgakov writes makes it easy for it to be accessed and the excellent translation keeps the story remarkably true to its original form. Controversial both in its views, and also due to the length of time it remained out of print because of the russian government this story, a very short text by most rssian writers standards, provides a welcome insight into the unrest felt by many under the dictatorial control duing the early communist reign under stalin and his ilk.
Sorry for the low rating. Its a good start but for higher ratings you need to add more. Perhaps you could tell us more about the plot without giving too much away? I suggest you read around other reviews (especially books) and this will help. If you edit this let me know via my guestbook and I'll come back and re-read it.
