Advantages: Helps with good driving Disadvantages: Not many seem to take notice
I recently signed up on a college course to train to become an Advanced Driving Instructor at which point I was handed several books to take away for plenty of home study. One of these books I remembered from when I was learning to drive which was 'The HighwayCode'
This official government publication covers the rules for all road users which includes pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists, motorcyclists and drivers of all kinds of vehicles, which makes 'The HighwayCode' essential reading for everybody and not just those who are about to start learning to drive.
I received my copy of 'The HighwayCode' as part of the fees which I am paying for the course but if you are looking to buy a copy the cover price is only £1.99. The book is available from the Driving Standards Agency website which I will give a note of below or from most ...

i passed my test some years ago now,and i studed my highwaycode book and everything insideout,back to front and so on well i knew it all.sadly that was then,my daughter who is now seventeen,was delighted that she could now start driving lessons,she asked me to teach her the highwaycode,so out came my old faithfull book that i kept,pleased that i did,only to find my daughter had brought a new updated book,i was shocked to find so much had changed .enbarrassed by this.I thought its time to learn again, my daughter and i sat down together ,every night and learned the highwaycode,it taught me many a thing i did not know,Also my daughter and i had fun,and quilty time together. So keep up to date with the highwaycode all the time,dont think you know it all,when its all in the past.stops you brain going rusty too.well worth the money ...
Advantages: modern car with ABS, power steering etc; experienced instructor; friendly call centre staff; phone call after 1st lesson Disadvantages: none so far
Who are they?
BSM began in 1910 and has grown to be a nationally recognised driving school. They claim to teach over 170,000 new learners to drive every year. There are over 100 BSM Centres and over 3000 instructors located all around the country. They use modern cars - Vauxhall Astras and Corsas - to teach learners.
Booking lessons

This is pretty straightforward. You can use the online booking form if you wish, whereby you fill in a few details and someone from the BSM Centre nearest you will call you back to arrange the specific times and dates of as many lessons as you desire. You can just phone them yourself, this would be much quicker.
I used the online form though, and asked to be called back in the next 24 hours. This didn't happen, and I recieved a phone call after about 3 days, but I put that ...
