This is a huge, sprawling monster of an 'audiobook'. So I have a choice, do I do a huge, sprawling monster of an op and really do it justice, or just enough to whet folks' appetites to let them go and find out for themselves? Well, given the price (volatile, but currently £140 on Amazon), I think it'd be unfair to expect people to fork out that kind of money on spec. 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy' is an indulgent treat for lovers of surreal comedy everywhere. If you have seen the film and thought it was good, you were wrong, and should definitely listen to the radio series or perhaps read the book. As the series was originally written for radio (radio 4 o be precise) the aural form is the form in which the tale is at its best. This is a hell of an audio book, so I'd advice ensuring that you don't start listening within a week of any important social occasions or interviews.
