Advantages: Some Cheap Goods Disadvantages: Not always the cheapest | Very Bleak Shop | Long Queues
I'm always on the look out for ways to save a few pennies, as I was brought up that if you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves. So when I hunt out my basic toiletries, or even creating gift hampers, I'll always look for the cheapest place to buy them. For the last couple of years, one of my regular stops has been Savers, which is a funny sort of shop, that seems to be a cross-between the local chemist and Boots (only without a pharmacy). And now I'm going to tell you what I like (and don't) about the shop?.

The store I visit is located in Basildon, in the Town Square next to Dixons and not far from Boots. I'm not sure if this location was deliberately planned, to catch those who have just paid Boots' rather higher prices, or whether it was just the only available unit at the time. In ...

Advantages: Wide range of products and brands Disadvantages: Cheap and not so cheerful
I spend a lot of my time visiting shops and assessing them (in a vain attempt not have to work in one) in order to fund the ever increasing costs of my education. (So far, its been relatively unsuccessful but if I had a penny for every time I had said ?Why am I doing this?? with regards my education then I?m sure I could fund it easily!)
That?s why I tend to avoid writing about shops for Ciao. Most of the time, I?m so sick of them that I couldn?t muster the enthusiasm to write about them.

However there is one particular shop that I?ve been hearing a lot about and have recently discovered myself is well worth a visit.

Advantages: Low prices, quite extensive range Disadvantages: None
When yet another shop closed down in Harlow town centre everyone assumed that we were going to be blessed with yet another cheap mish mash shop that sold nothing in particular and nothing of use to man or beast, but we were wrong.
Although the sign was the first thing to be put up and behind blanked out windows men were busy at work refurbishing the shop I was still none the wiser as I had not come across a Savers shop before, and so the agonising wait went on.
After what seemed months of walking past this new so-called Savers shop waiting for a peep in the window to see what they would have to offer someone like me the opening day came and in we all piled.
Soon it was clear, Savers was here to serve us our daily supplies of toiletries, household cleaning products, baby bits and bobs, behind the counter perfumes and photograph ...
