opposed to the war, he could see no way out until a stranger slipped him a calling card for an anti-draft network. Now on the run, he has the promise of a new identity and a new life, but if he is caught, the punishment will be brutal.
Advantages: An album worth owning, though not his strongest. Disadvantages: A couple of really forgettable tracks.
---JAMES BLUNT- All THE LOSTSOULS---
After a three year gap Ex Army Captain, James Blunt brought out his long awaited second album 'All the LostSouls' in September 2007. This was the follow up to his hugely successful debut album 'Back to Bedlam' which came out in 2004. James Blunt was a refreshing change on the music scene and he was to music in 2004, what Damien Rice was in 2003. James Blunt has his own unique style of Folk/Rock. He is a balladeer and his songs deal with subjects such as: Heartbreak, infidelity, failed relationships and love.-
James Blunts album 'All the LostSouls' hit the shelves in 2007, two weeks after the record company released the single taken from the album entitled '1973'. It didn't do too badly in the charts, but this was more to do with the massive airplay it got and not so much to do ...
Advantages: Lose yourself in this dark, atmospheric musical symphony Disadvantages: Deserves your full attention from start to finish
LostSouls? The Doves finest, as is often the case with debut albums - this is a classic and probably my favourite album of all time. A chilled out listen with great lyrics and amazing vocals from Jimi Goodwin.
It's an album that transcends a specific period in ones life, rising above musical genres, impervious to clichés. I'm talking specifically about Britpop culture and the 'Madchester' scene to which Doves (or sub-sub as they were formally known) were born, formed in the wake of an acid house craze that swept through their hometown of Manchester, leading to a chance encounter between old school friend Jimi Goodwin and brothers, Jez and Andy Williams where else but the Hacienda club? cue: a band was born.
Standout tracks include: Here it comes, Lostsouls, Catch the sun and Cedar room. From start to finish a gloriously dark ...
Advantages: Sexy, good characters, great writing style Disadvantages: Slightly disjointed plot, 'sad' ending.
This is the first book by Ms Brite I ever read, and has permanently instilled a love for her writing in me.
The best thing by far about this book is that Brite's vampires aren't the cuddly Anne Rice variety. They're filthy, dirty and downright evil and just the way vampires should be. Why else would people like the myth if it weren't for the freedom of being evil that these beings possess?
The story begins with Nothing, a boy who was left on a doorstep as a baby and is now 16, in full knowledge of where he came from. He already exhibits vampire tendencies, likes blood and gothic clothes and rock music. He decides one day to run away from home and find somewhere he feels he belongs.
At the same time we have the story of Ghost and Steve, the two members of a band called LostSouls?, a band which Nothing has on tape the day he leaves home ...
