You have to get through the whole pack of compeeds in one outbreak to get the full effect, therefore for people like me who get outbreaks alot, would be sending alot of money on them. You also have to put the compeed on as soon as you get the common tingling and itching sensation, and not wait for the coldsore to become scabby as the patches are not effective otherwise. I didn't end up wearing a patch to prom in the end because it didn't make any difference to covering it up! Overall i would recommend them if your not bothered about the appearance of the cold sores and just want a fast way to clear annoying coldsores. Nothing else is a patch on these

Advantages: Easy to use, very effective
Disadvantages: Do pull your skin off if you're not careful

. You pull on both ends of this applicator to release the patch. One end will come away more easily than the other, so that half the patch is exposed, you stick this half down, then pull away the other half of the applicator and stick the rest of the patch down. According to the instructions, each patch should last for 8 - 10 hours, and 15 patches should be enough to treat one cold sore. I never detect cold sores when they're in the 'tingly' stage, so mine was already a blister when the first patch went on. I immediately noticed a difference in the visibility of the cold sore. From a distance you could barely tell there was anything there and even close up it was much more discreet than normal. A patch will fix it!

Advantages: It works and hides it well
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

********** Compeed is sold inside a plastic box, each patch is sealed separately just like a normal plaster which ensures these are totally clean. What I find very clever of this product is not only how it works but also the fact that inside the plastic box you do find a small mirror (poor quality but still effective) which allows you to use this while you are on the go. In each packet you get 15 patches and the cost of this is £6.99 which means each patch is around 47p. In my opinion this does not come cheap. In my case since I experience cold sores around two to three times a year it means a packet lasts me twelve months if not more, I tend to use two patches during the course of a day and if I use them as soon as I experience a tingle the recovery period is much shorter: as they do say prevention is better than cure!
