Review of "The Last Hero - Terry Pratchett"
Break time over , back to do some more reviews, I forgot how much I enjoyed it here
I am a real fan of Terry Pratchett and collect his books and I think I have read them all and his humour and writting talent shines through in all of his books in fact I'd go as far to say there isn't a book of his that I haven't enjoyed and this one although a little different from the other books is just as enjoyable. This book is slightly larger that a paperback and is illustrated by Paul Kidby with imagination and artistic flare.
It's a story set in the Discworld where lots of adventures from other books have unfolded the characters from Discworld intertwine with other books which makes them fun to read as you get to know the character and their quirks and ways and when you come across them in the various book you know something silly and exciting is going to happen.
The Discworld is Terry Pratchetts world of imagination with wizards, witches, dwarfs and of course hero's.
This book is about the hero's who have one last task to achieve before they die which is to return fire to the gods. They are hoping to distroy the gods and the plot thickens when the wizards get involved.
They know that killing the gods will most probably end up in destroying the Discworld, so they enroll the services of Leonard of Quirm he manages to build a flying machine, powered by dragons. He, along with Rincewind who is a well known character from the Discworld novels and Carrot the watchman set off to try to save the world.
The story then adds many twist and turns, humourous and fun until they manage to save the world.
On the whole it's just as good as any other book by Terry Pratchett and if you get a chance to read it then I would recommend it to you. It's a good read for anyone who loves his adventures and humourous fantasy books, suitable for young adults and a must for the collector and can be found on ebay buy now price £3.99 which is really cheap. I'm sure you can find it on Amazon too for around the same price.I think if your a fantasy art lover then this book is great collection of illustrations for you to look at. The art work is probably just as good as the storyline and captivates the mind just as well as the story. if you get chance have a look.
If you haven't read any Terry Pratchett books then you really are in for a treat with this one.
In fact if you haven't read and Terry Pratchett book you are really missing out.
