Advantages: You will feel better for it and it will put less strain on your body Disadvantages: You just need the motivation to get started
and asparagus salad instead of my usual something with chips and it was delicious.
Would I recommend it?
I most certainly would - it makes no sense at all to put your kidneys under strain every day. I need my body to last and I want to stay healthy and not be on drugs for the rest of my life. Even if your BP isn't a problem at present it is a fact that in their lifetime around 25% of us will suffer from high BP and that is doing damage to all our organs. I believe we all owe it to ourselves to start eating healthier.
Certainly for me I plan to make this a long lasting change which hopefully will reduce my blood pressure the natural way without drugs.
UPDATE - January 2009
It is now over a year since I started this diet - or to be more precise went on to the DASH lifestyle. It is indeed a lifestyle from my point of view ...
Advantages: A diet that focusses on what your body needs, not stressing over calorie counting Disadvantages: Initial credit card flexing at the health food store
diet, and NOT about calorie counting. By feeding your body the right kinds of foods you should be educating it to WANT the right kinds of foods. You will also be encouraging it to burn fat that is already in place.
Because (I consider) this system to be more of a lifestyle re-education than calorie counting it isn't going to be making people lose weight they don't need to. It isn't going to be depriving them of essential nutrients, and it isn't going to kid their body into the 'feast or famine' cycle that so many dieters experience. What it does do, is to talk about many elements of the western diet, and why they have a detrimental effect on the body. I have realised since reading this that I am sugar sensitive, and allow this to dictate the kinds of food and drink that I consume. I am now getting more used to relying on fruit ...
Advantages: Interesting when one succeeds. Disadvantages: Too complicated. At age 64 there is no way of my sleeping 8 hours.
I found this product inadequate. No matter how hard I tried I did not achieve the success it promised, so I asked for a refund about 3 weeks ago. I tried different ways to contact the seller even through a third person but nothing came out of it. I tried opening a ticket on their site but it was useless. I have not heard a word from Bradley Thompson since. I just get more emails from him to buy his products, which I delete immediately. He is not to be trusted. The product looks very attractive and interesting but I found that It disrupts my sleep pattern. It is difficult to follow, especially if you have a partner who sleeps very lightly, as it might disturb the other person when the alarm is set to go off every 90 minutes to wake you up so as to record your dreams. For me it was money down the drain. ...
