Windows 7 Review
With the recent release of the new Microsoft operating system windows 7 many people believe windows vista will be forgotten about with its constant security alerts and lack of user options. The new operating system has many new features which I will run through now.
Firstly the new taskbar down at the bottom is a lot easier on the eye as it no longer has any text whatsoever, instead Microsoft have opted to use just the logo of the software the user currently has running. Another improvement to the taskbar is the ability to lock items to the task bar which is a replacement of the quick launch system in Vista, this simply means that you right click click on the logo of the software you want to lock and click ?pin to taskbar? this means that when the program isn?t open it still has an icon on the taskbar and can be ...
Advantages: Wide range of topics covered, largely accessible and entertaining Disadvantages: Occasionally overly academic
The Richness of Life - Stephen Jay Gould
Steven Jay Gould was one of America's most prominent experts on palaeontology and evolutionary biology. A prolific writer he produced many books, papers and articles from the 1960's up to his death in 2002.
A teacher at Harvard University he published several academic books but also worked prodigiously to popularise science through a number of more accessible works and the impressive achievement of delivering 300 unbroken articles for the magazine Natural History.
In some ways considered to be America's answer to Richard Dawkins, the pair shared a passion for Darwin and evolutionary theory but famously came to academic blows over a number of issues where their theories came into conflict. Through the 80's and 90's they traded blows through articles and reviews of each others work but ...
Advantages: Great new toolbar, excellent personalisation, overall brilliant design Disadvantages: Really similar to Vista.
In July, I downloaded the Release Candidate of Windows 7 to evaluate the new operating system and I have to say it's the best version of Windows yet! It surpasses Vista in every way. Windows 7 is not available yet but I'm encouraging all Vista uers to upgrade in October as soon as the software is released. In the rest of my review I will outline some of the key features.
For starters, the toolbar has been changed dramatically. In previous versions of windows, the active windows (i.e. open programs and applications) would appear seperately as tabs with the symbols and titles of the programs (with the option to group similar windows together under one tab, such as all the internet explorers open). InWindows 7, the toolbar features the start button (the windows logo), followed by programs pinned to the taskbar and open programs, then ...

Manufacturer's product description
I promised that I would one day write a book and tell the world about the home for unmarried mothers. I have at last kept my promise. In Ireland 1951 the young June Goulding took up a position as midwife in a home for unmarried mothers run by the Sacred Heart nuns. What she witnessed there was to haunt her for the next fifty years. It was a place of secrets lies and cruelty. A place where women picked grass by hand and tarred roads whilst heavily pregnant. Where they were denied any contact with the outside world; denied basic medical treatment and abused for their 'sins'; where after the birth they were forced into hard labour in the convent for three years. But worst of all was that the young women were expected to raise their babies during these three years so that they could then be sold - given up for adoption in exchange for a donation to the nuns. Shocked by the nuns' inhumane treatment of the frightened young women June risked her job to bring some light into their dark lives. June's memoir tells the story of twelve women's experiences in this home and of the hardships they endured but also the kindness she offered them and the hope she was able to bring.I promised that I would one day write a book and tell the world about the home for unmarried mothers. I have at last kept my promise.
