My partner bought me a consultation and cut and blow dry with Mark Hill (hairdresser to the stars!) for Christmas the year before last after hearing me for years say ‘I’d love to get my hair done by Mark Hill’. It was such a fantastic gift and I really had no idea he’d got me it - I cried buckets.

My partner bought me a consultation and cut and blow dry with Mark Hill (hairdresser to the stars!) for Christmas the year before last after hearing me for years say ‘I’d love to get my hair done by Mark Hill’. It was such a fantastic gift and I really had no idea he’d got me it - I cried buckets.
I was really excited about the appointment and rang to book it fairly quickly; the earliest convenient for me was in February. I was quite pleased about this as I had no intention of getting my hair done by the hairdresser of the year 2003 – 2004 without losing at least half a stone. I was quite intimidated by making the call but the receptionist was lovely and very chatty.
The day came and I drove over, I’m very lucky as I only live about 20 minutes from the salon and I arrived about 20 minutes early. I didn’t want to appear too eager as it was our first date so I sat in my car and babbled on to my partner on my mobile phone until I could wait no more and entered the salon a respectable 5 minutes before the appointment.
I was shown up the narrow staircase to the consulting room and a few minutes later the man himself entered – dressed head to toe in black and with a beany hat covering his curls. We chatted about hair and how some of the big stars look with their choice of cut. He also asked how I’d happened to have and appointment – he must have thought I was a fool as I was so gushing ‘I’ve always wanted to have my hair done by you…..’
I was taken back down stairs to have my hair washed and got a chance to have a look at the rest of the salon – very nice it looked too. Have you ever noticed how many hairdressers are beautiful people? Well believe me many of them congregate in the Mark Hill Salon but I have to say each and every person that spoke to me was lovely and although I had felt a little intimidated at the thought of going, I felt very much at ease while there. The salon is decorated with style and opulence and felt a little like a dream world.
I went back upstairs for my hair cut and drying and for more quality time chatting with Mark Hill but all too soon it was over.
My hair looked great but more than that I was walking on air. It was a fabulous experience and I just couldn’t let it go, so as I walked away on cloud nine, I clutched to my bosom a card with my next appointment written on it.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I go again? I do, every 6 – 8 weeks. Is it still as good? More than good, it’s fabulous.
What if you can’t afford to see Mark? For my friends 40th birthday – she was feeling really down too – I paid for her a consultation and hair cut with Mathew who holds many awards and trophies. I got more pleasure giving that gift than receiving most and she loved it so much too she goes every couple of months…..

...down, my husband came to the rescue and booked an appointment on Christmas Eve at the Mark Hill Salon in Kirk Ella, Hull. I was excited, but nervous. I worried that it would be pretentious and over-priced. I couldn't have been more wrong. The salon has a real 'family' atmosphere and I immediately felt part of the family. My stylist, Elizabeth, was excellent and I felt that I was in the hands of an expert in her field. She exuded confidence, listened ... ...personal service. I left the salon feeling like a million dollars, with another appointment booked. Mark Hill is a fantastic role model for his team and his presence fills the building. The atmosphere is electric and you just know that you are surrounded by people who are loving their career in styling hair, all passionate about what they do and dedicated to making their customers feel special. Quick review of The Mark Hill Salon
I had had enough of my hair - frizzy, long, supposed to be curly hair so decided to treat myself to a cut at the salon. It is only a 20 minute drive.
I was greated by a very friendly receptionist and as I was early spent 5 minutes chatting. My stylist (one of the senior stylists) came and gave me a full consultation - deciding to cut my long hair into a short bob. After washing she confirmed that I agreed to my new cut and off she started, chopping away. The end result was a fantastic sleek bob and when scrunched dried also goes into a great curl.
I have definately booked again for 6 weeks time but this time to have a colour too.
