Advantages: large modern city centre stadium, good failities
Disadvantages: ticket availability,

last weekend the Millenium stadium in Cardiff was host to the FA CUP final. This bank holiday weekend it is staging the division 1,2, and 3 playoffs. ...which is more central to the town than Cardiff. It is located within 5 minutes walk from the bus station, train station, shops, pubs and city centre hotels. It is also closely linked to the Cardiff rugby club ground which restricted full development of the stadium. All bar one stand (north – by Cardiff rugby club) are three tier. The North stand is two tier and on many occasions cheaper family tickets are available in this stand.

...Wrexham have been promoted to the second division after scoring a bagful of goals and playing attractive and slick, passing football. Wales have taken Europe by storm with currently the best record of any of the European nations. There have been many highlights to the season, but none can beat Wales' tremendous victory against Italy and in the words of Max Boyce ‘I was there’. Wales 2 Italy 1. Wednesday 16th October, a red-letter day. ...
...commentaries on minor games with the spherical shaped ball. Radio Wales take note. Mark Hughes must take a lot of credit for the way Wales played, as must the players, but the real heroes of the day were the stadium, which must surely now rank as one of the best in the world and the 72,000 strong crowd which provided the best ever atmosphere of any match I’ve ever attended, even the one when Wrexham beat Arsenal. What a terrific day. Starting ...

Thank you Cardiff

Advantages: Superb views, great location and atmosphere
Disadvantages: Getting Tickets

...not at Wembley as per the original dream, but at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. Just as Wembley was the home of football of England, the Cardiff Arms Park was the home of Welsh Rugby. However, again drawing similarities with Wembley, the Arms Park was showing its age and unable to provide the modern facilities expected of today’s sporting arenas. So the decision was taken to build a new national stadium for Wales, and from the ashes of the Cardiff ...
...of £130 million and is the first (and currently only) stadium in the UK to have the option of closing the roof. This stadium represents a triumph for local planners and if you have ever seen it, you will wonder why the cost for the new Wembley is being quoted at anything from £600 - £900 million when so much can be achieved for several hundred million less. Location Bang, smack in the centre of Cardiff, on the banks of the River Taff. Two minutes ...

The Best Stadium In The World ? ?

Advantages: City centre location, great facilities inside and outside stadium
Disadvantages: Traffic congestion ! !

Having recently visited Cardiff and the Millenium Stadium for the recent Football League One Play Off Final (Sunday 29th May 2005), i thought it would be appropriate to review the stadium and surrounding area for other fans who may be planning a visit. The journey to Cardiff started at 8:00 am in Sheffield, a little under 5 hours later i arrived in Cardiff. It was quite a tiresome journey, and i would recommend that if possible the best way to get ...
...choice by coach. The railway station is very close to the ground and as for coaches, more than enough allocated parking areas. Now, back to getting there! The stadium is well signposted once you are on the M4, this is quite important as often some sporting events offer little help in getting you there! The traffic into Cardiff was heavy at times, and for this i think it is best to allow extra time for your journey. If travellling by car, there is ...

Bittersweet Symphony

Advantages: Great Atmosphere, Closed roof
Disadvantages: Inflated Drinks Prices, Long way to travel

Imagine the scenario, your football team have been through seven years of playing in the first division, gone through as many managers in those years and not even had a sniff of the success that was experienced in the first season of the Premier League. Yes I am talking about Norwich City, this time our luck had changed, things had got back on track and thanks to a team that actually played football and had spirit, we found ourselves in the 2002 ...
...ago, we would have made the journey of a few hours to Wembley without the need for a lot of planning. But Wembley is closed and in need of a lot of attention. It was my understanding the stadium was being re-built as we speak but apparantly tht isn't the case. Maybe the people involved should take a look at what 2 years and £60 million can get you. We started out on Saturday morning and took a near five hour drive down to Newport. That's going from ...

Great stadium, so why shouldn't the FA cup be played here

Advantages: Britain's newest and soon to be biggest football stadium
Disadvantages: some suggest that the FA cup should be kept in England

Until Wembley is rebuilt, the Millennium Stadium reigns as Britain's premier stadium. With a capacity of 72,000 and a retractable roof, only Old Trafford comes close to matching it. However, many suggest that the FA cup final should not be taken out of England. Out of the possible alternatives, Twickenham won't allow football to be played there, Old Trafford currently only holds 67,500 and would give an advantage to United if they were contesting ...

A Great Stadium for Wales

Advantages: Wonderful facilities World Class home for Wales
Disadvantages: Few

The Millenium Stadium Cardiff, the new home of Welsh rugby, has really been in the limelight. It very successfully handled the World Rugby Cup shortly after its opening, then hosted in quick succession the Worthington League Cup Final and the FA Cup final which saw Liverpool winning both trophies. More recently the thrilling Charity Shield match which saw Liverpool defeating Manchester United 2-1,was held at the stadium. This match was held under cover. This fine stadium was constructed on the very historic Cardiff Arms Park site bang in the middle of the Welsh capital. It was explicitly designed from the outset for all-year,all-weather use- very wise given the capricious British weather- and has a remarkable retractable roof which is the very first of its kind in the UK. It is a flexible,multi-use sports arena ...

Review of Wales

Proud to be Welsh

Advantages: Good team spirits and encouraging games
Disadvantages: That they don't win all the time

I thought I would write my opinion on the Welsh Rugby team for this years Six Nations Games. I think that we played really well against England (even though we lost again!!) and played even better against Scotland until the last 15 minutes, this is when the game became a draw and the final result was a draw. The team spirit was definately there this year with Neil Jenkins playing well at their second game. I was due to go down to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff this week end to watch the Wales v Ireland game but due to the Foot and Mouth crisis it was cancelled. In April last year I joined the Ruthin Rugby Ladies Team (Ruthin being a small Medieval town in North Wales) and lasted a few training sessions but found it very difficuky with having a three year old daughter and a husband on shift work. I have a few friends that still ...

LLandudno rocks at last

Advantages: Close to the band, Excellent atmosphere
Disadvantages: none

The Manics played Llandudno as a warm up for their appearances at The Reading and Leeds festivals. I was one of the 1,100 lucky soles who managed to get tickets. The concert itself sold out in 20 minutes as this was probably the biggest band ever to play in North Wales. I have been a fan of the Manics since the early days, but had only seen them twice previously. Both times were in front of 60,000 plus fans at V99 and the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. This was therefore my first chance to see them in more intimate surroundings. I was not dissappointed. The Manics gave their all and showed that they are much more than a band for the big festivals. It was particularly pleasing to see them perform so many of the old songs including the excellent 'Motown Junk', 'La Tristessa Durera' and for me their best ever tracks 'Motorcycle ...
