Advantages Advantages keeps you guessing till the end with a surprise twist

Disadvantages Disadvantages if you dislike Miss Marple as I do then this is a disadvantage

Jane Marple is bored with her life in St. Marymead. She is unsure of what to make of the new housing development and being confined to her bed by her home-help doesn't help at all. Her doctor recommends that she take an interest in something, a real-life murder mystery perhaps?!? Thankfully there happens to be one happening right up the road at Gossington Hall. The film starlet Marina Gregg and her third husband, a director, have bought Gossington Hall. Inkeeping with the tradition of St. Marymead they hold a charity day in which local members of the community can come to see what changes have ... more

Advantages Advantages Super "whodunit" featuring Miss Marple

Disadvantages Disadvantages Typical Christie - might be too "cosy" for some people!

One of my favourite Christie novels, featuring her lady sleuth, Miss Marple. All the action takes place in the English village of St Mary Mead and most of it centres around the big house of Gossington Hall. The village has changed, with a new housing development and updated shops. Gossington Hall is now home to a Hollywood filmstar, Marina Gregg and her director husband. They keep tradition going by holding a charity fete in the grounds and a reception in the house itself. When a female charity worker, Heather Badcock, dies from a poisoned cocktail during this reception, Miss Marple needs all ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

The famous film star Marina Gregg and her husband Jason Rudd move into Gossington Hall in St Mary Mead and hold a party to introduce themselves into local society. At this party, Heather Babcock, a talkative but kindly middle aged women, Collapses and dies. SURPRISE SURPRISE, SHE HAS BEEN POISONED!!! But was she the intended victim or is there more to Heather Babcock than meets the eye. It's up to Jane Marple to discover the truth. This novel is Agatha Christie at her best. As well as the basic mystery it has Jane Marple dealing with an ever modernising world, she even begins to doubt her own ... more
