The New Atlantic 252

I always used to listen to Atlantic 252, but I stopped listening a few years back, because I thought it had turned crap. Recently, I decided to tune in again to see if anything had changed, it had - "The New Atlantic 252". They now claim to play "Non-stop Rythm and dance", and play 12 tunes, in a row,all the time apart from breakfast. This is brilliant!! A few years back, 12 in a row only happened about once a day. This used to be my favourite radio station just a year or two ago. If I wanted to listen to the newest hits, then I could just tune in and chill out. These days their playlist seems to contain only four singles, of which they play three or four times an hour. They rarely play the songs that appeal to me, which indicates that either my tastes have changed or the station is out of touch. The only way they can recover from the position they are in would be to hire younger researchers as they are the people who know what the audience wants. Atlantic 252 is supposed to be non-stop rhythm and dance music. Then how come they are playing Robbie Williams Angels!!? and lots of other rocky/slow tunes. Things like Robbie Williams are great tracks but do not fit into the format. If I wanted to hear that I would tune to my local GWR better music mix crap station or Radio 1. If something is branded they should stick to it. The whole point is that its supposed to be a DANCE station. It makes me laugh when they go on about the dance tunes and then they play Britney Spears. Over the last month or so, Atlantic seems to have responded to critics and got rid of all the 'non-dance' tunes and widened the playlist so it is less repeative. Its excellent. They play more dance music than the Galaxy stations do! I do wonder if any of the other so called reviews which are negative about the station are from people who have genuinely listened to Atlantic, as they seem sparse on the facts about the stations true output. I wonder if they are just writing any old 'slagging off' rubbish just to obtain a payment. They fail to mention the dance format and the 12 in a row feature ... more

They have changed Atlantic 252, from pop to Rnb and just all music. Which is good it will attract more listeners. But, the whole radio show seems to be based on 12 ‘great songs in a row’ I have heard that so many times you get sick of it after while. And when I changed over to Virgin they were doing the same. So, it’s hardly New or original. Well, anyway they play some good music and I have it tuned on my car radio, the station don’t really need any presenters because they don’t chat that much, which is good I suppose.
