Psycho Alley

Advantages: in depth and well thought out investigation
Disadvantages: Poor insight into women

Background: This is a new author to me, so when I saw it in the library I thought it was worth a look at. The only problem was half way through it; I by accident posted it back through the library letterbox instead of the one I had already read. Luckily I managed to go to the library at Lunchtime and get it back, I cannot think of many more frustrating things than half completing a crime novel so not knowing the ending, but I was lucky on this occasion. About the author: Nick Oldham was born in Lancashire in 1956. He spent 30 years in the Police force before retiring in 2005. Since then he has turned his attention full time to writing and so far had written 13 crime novels. All of which are centred around DCI Henry Christie exploits in and around the town of Fleetwood, near Blackpool. Synopsis of the book ...

Premier Inn - Oldham Central

Advantages: Clean, good staff, nice breakfast
Disadvantages: Terrible bed

My husband had to go to Manchester for a meeting at fairly short notice and would be staying over the night before. As I'm not working at the moment, I decided to tag along - any excuse to go shopping in Manchester for a few hours. Unfortunately, it being the 4th March, Manchester United were playing at home in the Champions League and, despite the best efforts of his company travel people, the nearest they could get at a price they were willing to pay - £58 room and £7.50 breakfast - was the Oldham Central Premier Inn (about 12 miles from the Gmex where we were planning to park). Now this hotel is literally right next to Oldham football ground and they were playing at home but we had absolutely no problem getting a room! We actually hadn't realised that the game was on, otherwise we would have pushed it a bit on the way up ...

Workers without jobs for jobs without workers...

Advantages: All-in-one
Disadvantages: Horrible enviroment

contemplate something they never thought they would have to- sign on and then go for jobs 'beneath them'. Only 9% of all people employed get their jobs through the Job Centre and clearly they are not the bankers and lawyers of the world. In times of high employment and prosperity the middle-class are very quick to slag people off who are on the dole and who don't want to work in those factories and on those production lines and yet when times are tough they don't fancy it either. They almost expect a career in their chosen field they qualified for yet most would admit the degree they did was just to go to university, a middle-class right-of-passage if you like. You don't have that luxury as a working man or woman of univiversity and a career choice. Its warehouse and building for guys and retail and admin for girls. There's nothing more irritating ...
