i have been with orange since it first began basically so for approx. 10-12 years

i therefore can give no real advice to new customers just starting with orange about initial sign up etc ,as it is in the distant past for me .

What i can rave about is orange and how i have been dealt with in these years.

Firstly a little known fact NHS employees can get a 10% discount on contract.(YOU HAVE TO ASK)

I believe insurance is now £5 a month ...now for some reason i get mine free for the the first year ,every time i upgrade my phone (which i do every year)the staff at orange dont really know why this is but all they can suggest is that it is because im on an old style contract!!!!!

Iam a subscriber to a little known deal called Orange In Front (check out the magazine you get sent quarterly for these types of deals)
This includes £80 upgrade cost per year , a pound a month international calling, 30 text bundle a month all for £4 a month extra
Unfortunately this has now ceased to exist this month but my benefits will go on for free for another 6 months.
(the down side of this package was that orange staff had never heard of it so the shop was unwilling to upgrade me ......however bullying from someone at orange sorted the shop out)
The point of my telling you about this is that there are offers out there so look for them.

Iam on a package that cost about £17 and allows me 60 mins of calls a month and i have a 60 text bolt on too as i find that i text far more and this suits me well.

One advantage of having a higher talk plan is that upgrades are usually free for those paying a fee of £25 and above ,

...a good tip is that you can change your package on the day you upgrade your phone to get a free upgrade then a month later go back to your original talk plan.

My husband recently did this, also he got £30 pounds cash back for handing in his old phone and a free hands free bluetooth ear kit.....not bad!!!! so ask about these things they may not be advertising all the offers.(these offers were not displayed)

Most phones from orange these days are fine for using abroad (tri band and even quad band now)all you have to do is activate your account once then you are set to go.....when you arrive in the country your phone roams to find a server BUT you may find you have difficulties phoning england on the first company your phone locks on to you can search through and change (i had hassle in langkawi recently could not get through to home but after talking to another orange user i picked up that tip and "bobs your uncle " straight through)

You can send and recieve text messages and recieve calls but remeber you pay for the calls from home if you are abroad.

As regards customer services i can not find fault ,my previous phone had an error and i even got a replacement phone sent to my house on christmas day by courier ...now that is service .
I have also had to have to new phones over the years due to them been stolen ,again i had orange insurance ....all you do is phone the police to get a crime no phone orange they put a block on calls from your phone and i have never been queried a replacement within 24 hours again by courier

hope my experience is of help if you either have an orange phone otr are thinking of getting one

Sounds like you have benefitted from above average customer service! You might want to think about leaving a blank line between your paragraphs as it will make it much easier on the eye! CBx

Im glad someone has gotten good customer service from orange, I certainly havent!! Have had a contract with them for years and am only still with them because they fall over themselves to keep me there each year I try to leave. Every year something else has gone wrong, usually with the billing department. Everytime I call up and think something has been sorted, I call the next day and 'sorry sir, there is no record of that call and what they said was wrong'! hopefully it will get better this year. drew
