I am sure none of you reading this would deny my title. However OSCARS this year seemed pretty much unexpected, though being an India I frankly did not expect the movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE BAG 8 OSCARS,though I am happy about it but I am not proud about it.In the beginning Hugh Jackman the host of the evening was pretty much a pleasure to watch. There was a feeling of mutual admiration in the air in KODAK THEATER.Everyone was looking their best, fingers were kept crossed and everyone were in high hopes that their movie or work would be awarded. At the end some hearts were thumping with joy and some were filled with remorse.Overall the evening was a wonderful one,but however was getting monotonous at the end as all I heard or saw was SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE AND SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

In the Best Film Category Slumdog according to me had to be third on the list which would be topped by Curious Case of Benjamin Button and MILK.But I really was awestruck that it was awarded Best Motion Picture of the Year. The Curious Case had a lot more matter, story and overall structure, the sets were altogether different and a bit better.
So according to me Slumdog was not the best film in comparison to others

In the Best Actor in a Leading Role category Sean Penn undoubtedly was my favorite for his work in the 'MILK'.He is a treat for the eyes when it comes to acting. However Brad Pitt was equally strong but Sean Penn simply was the best.

So according to me Sean Penn received a well deserved award

The moment that made me happy about the OSCARS 2009 was when TITANIC beauty Kate Winslet won the award. She was my favorite however I feared her having tough competition from the TOMB RAIDER beauty(Angelina Jolie) and Anne Hathaway. However my favorite won the award :) :) tra la la la.
So according to me Kate Winslet won a closely competed award

Now the Best Direction brought the same 5 competitors of Best Film category to compete for another golden statuette. Here as well it was unexpected for me for Slumdog to win as I vied for The MILK.However with due respect to the OSCAR judges this award too was not given to the deserving one.

So according to me MILK had to be the winner of BEST DIRECTOR

I would not comment on the Foreign Film Category as I did not watch all of them.So I accepted that the chosen winner was the best.

Coming to the MUSIC,SOUND MIXING category I readily agree it had to be A.R.RAHMAN.He is a genius when it comes to music, though a class XI drop out he does know how to churn up something which once heard will never leave your ears.Giving successful scores and songs since past 2 decades I must say he got the award pretty late.Even Resul Pokutty did a wonderful job of Sound Mixing and his long efforts in the industry finally paid him.
===So according to me the three awards were rightly given===

In the Editing Chris Dickens did a wonderful job by editing the various shots as being from the city of Mumbai we were shown making of the movie on the media and I really dint like the movie then as I felt they are doing nothing but making fun of the poor Slum dwellers.
===So it was a remarkable job by Chris and he fairly deserves it===

In the Visual Effects category I really vowed that I would turn off my television if Curious Case did not get an award in this category. But to my expectations finally my one of the favorite movie did get a deserving award. However Dark Knight had some mind boggling effects too which left me agape. But over all Curious Case was better.
===Finally Curious Case got what it deserved===

Now about documentaries I would not like to comment as I just saw SMILE PINKI and found it pretty good and it stirred me emotionally as well.

Also I would not comment on Documentary (Short) Short Films (Featured and Animated )as I have practically have not watched them.So I stand by the judges in this case.

In the Best Actor Supporting Role category it was pre decided and everyone had a unanimous answer that the winner would be Late Heath Ledger for his amazing work in Dark Knight.Hats off to the man to do such a work and I am sure he would be smiling from heaven after his name was announced.
===So in my view it was appropriately given===

In the Best Actress Supporting Role Penelope Cruz was closely competed by Taraji Henson and Amy Adams. But however Penelope emerged the winner with her excellence, which according to me was fairly right but still not enough as the other two had equally done well.
===So this award had to be given to Amy Doubt as well===

In the Cinematography I really was sure Slumdog would get it because being a Mumbaiite I am quite well aware about the different shades of colour this city has to offer as it is one of the most polluted cities. Also the slum areas have a pretty different characteristic about the house walls which made it difficult to match up with the basic colour of the movie. And also being a low budget movie the cinematographer had used not so advanced equipments.
===So in my view this award was given fair.===

In Writing too some other movie had to be chosen because Slumdog does not have a strong story or a script it is based only on real facts and idealogies. And in the original screen play MILK rightly got it as it involved quite an artistic thinking and amazing imagination.
===So this award again was not fair in the adapted category===

In the Makeup Hell Boy was my choice but Curious Case got it.Hell Boy had far more better make up as it dealt with un realistic characters.
===I am quite disappointed with this award===

Last but not least I had a mixed feelings of happiness, anger and disappointment after the OSCAR 2009.

The above review is solely based on my opinions and I am sure there would not be ethical issues about it,as I am just giving my opinion. And I confirm that the movies mentioned above are all watched by me out of pirated content.
