TANK-YOU VERY MUCH!!! ...What you wont be glad to hear is that The Outfit is more flawed than a Wok made out of straw. On paper it sounded so ace, you get to fight through twelve missions across european battlefields in a third person fashion using a beautifully balanced blend of action and tactics. The main crutch of the game surrounds a system called Destruction On Demand, which works off curency you earn through the killing of enemy soldiers or the destruction of enemy vehicles. Kill a Kraut, you get a handfull of points. Blow up a tank, you get a sack full of them; all of which can be used to buy stuff thats parachuted in within five seconds of placing the order. its a beautifull system: inventive, intuitive and gives the game considerable depth.
...the range of weapons you can have delivered is impressive, starting from wee little things like 30 cal machine guns and jeeps, but as you whack more nazis and rack up the points, far more formidable hardware finds its way to the menu. Tanks big enough to crush a whale start dropping from the skies above, as does titanic anti-aircraft guns for which you can use to shoot down some of the Luftwaffe demons circling above . While all this equipment is subject to damage and eventual destruction, you can have them repaired using your points rather then order new stuff in. And all of the stationary equipment can be manned by your AI controlled squad of up to four men, so the nearest man to the drop point will automatically get to grips with it.
..Men are another commodity you can have dropped off like pizza. As mentioned, you can have four men in your squad at any one time. And as there splatted into gut-piles like mice in a microwave, you can just order more in to top up your squad. its not unlike having a sniper rifle with a four-bullet chamber that you can reload whenever you want, and it leaves you very dettached from your men. These are not pals, buddies or men at arms;they have all the personality of the soldiers in Army Men and are just there to soak up the bullets. There driven by the shoddiest AI i have seen in recent years and sometimes are more of a hindrance than help. they seem oblivious to what your doing and dont work as a team. They dont seize the moment or use tactics. They just shoot at or run to the nearest thing to them. And they always run into your line of fire. While i appreciate that the action in this game harks back to more old school Commandos than Brothers in Arms, theres no need to have 20 year old AI.
THE CONTROLS ARE SHODDY!!! ...It doesnt matter if your on foot or in a vehicle, a poor control method is on the cards. While running about straffing left to right its as if your jumping from one side of the screen to the other in a pico second, and the targeting system is terrible, making it very hard to line up your aim and get a precise shot. it feels so messy, so imprecise that it becomes a pain to go forth....it just doesnt have the feeling of war like CALL OF DUTY . Explosions are pitifull events with no room for the mass chain reactions. Even when you call in an air strike to pound a building, it does little damage unless it was a target you were told to bombard by the game..it feels so scripted , like every area of the game was designed for a single selection of vehicle or action, and it lacks the gameplay it thinks it has.........
LOOKS NICE THOUGH!!!!! ...The graphics themselves are what you would expect from the 360, its clean with nice effects, the draw distance is good and the characters looking like soldiers, all this with an audio of sounds like any other war game, lots of gunfire and explosions overpowering everything else.
Conclusion....A tremendous game design tragically executed by inexperienced development hands.A shame, because with more work this could of been so much better.
Play this if you liked....

...£20 more i could get The Outift, which costs around £39.99 depending on where you buy it from. I thought about it and decided to go for it because the cover and photos on the back make it look like what could be a very good game... Oh i was very wrong. ***** Description Of What The Game Is *****
The Outfit is a war game, but not like any other war game. For example you couldn't compare it to say Call Of Duty because whereas The Outfit is a WW2 game ... ...The Outfit is a third person, combat game where you can buy troops to follow you and you can buy ground mounted weapons to kill and blow up the enemy. This might sound good but trust me after 30 minutes of playing you will see that everything is so repetative. When comparing it to Call Of Duty where you are in a first person shooter with many different missions you will see where The Outift has failed. They have loads of objectives to complete the ...

Advantages: Fun characters, weapons on demand Disadvantages: lack of realism and playability
This was the first title I bought for my XBOX and I must say I was a little dissapointed after about the first 20 minutes of play.
The game comes accross as a first person shooter, WWII style, but in reality is a heavily choreographed effort to utilise weapons to do mass destruction. Although the graphics are reasonable and the characters most certainly likeable, the surreal nature of calling in multiple tanks on demand and then driving them around ... ...as COD etc. The difference in this game is that although you are in familiar WWII Axis vs Allies surrounds, you can choose your character and chop and change as you move through the game (or just de and respawn as someone else) Each character has his own specialities with regard to weapons used and movement etc.
Controls in this game are familiar, if you have played first person shooters before, however I found it difficult to engage and disengage ...

...skill set. You then demolish the opponent using whatever means neccessary. earning FU's (Field Units). When your FU's are at a certain level you can call in anythnig from a gun to a Tank and it will just be dropped within a few feet of you.
The ability to demolish absolutely everything is where I see this game as having its good point. I hate games where you shoot something and nothing happens, in this however you shoot a wall it will fall over. ... ...the ground. This adds to the realism of the game.
The gameplay is not all there it didnt keep me playing, which made me glad that I only hired it. But saying that it is seeing good value for money recently at less than £20. I would say it is a good buy for the youngsters but with a 15 cert. They jsut aint allowed. However I dont really see where the 15 certificate ame from. ...
