Advantages: Witty dialogue, sense of fun, good mix of characters Disadvantages: Not the strongest story, opening is too long
some time. From Psycho onwards, Hitchcock?s female leads had played ever more passive, fragile roles and as Marnie and Frenzy hinted, were increasingly becoming objects of abuse, even to the characters that were seen to be ?good?. Family Plot in effect makes a conscious attempt to turn back the clock to more light-hearted fare; Blanche is a far more active player in the story than her immediate predecessors and delights in delivering witty jibes and put-downs. Pretty, a touch over-the-top but essentially likable, she in many ways comes to embody the films own strengths and weaknesses. Blanche is a slightly dubious ?psychic? who seemingly makes her living from duping rich elderly people who don?t know any better. However, one day she is propositioned by her client Mrs. Rainbird to find the old woman?s long-lost son, with the prize ...
Advantages: A lovely heart warming story with belivable characters! Disadvantages: Took a little longer than it should have done to read, not the best book ever read!
ever want to go back? But will she be able to face her past and stay in Summer Street where all her troubles started?
Opinion of the Story
The families in the book are all connected in a great and very believable way. When Amber runs away to New York, Maggie and Christie are the ones to comfort her in her time of need, and listen to her confession of her ?Past Secret?, and help her to confront her fears. Those are the three main characters and they are united in a beautiful way, that is one of my favourite chapters in the book as it really brings the characters together and gives us an extra insight to the characters and their pasts.
All through the story we know two of the characters secrets from early on; Faye and Maggie, and we are watching them deal with the secrets and trying to dodge around their loved ones with it ...
Advantages: Funny, witty and smart. A great coming out story. Disadvantages: Not for younger readers.
divorce - and whether or not they should 'send him somewhere'. He hits on running away to Brighton as the best solution, where he plans to track down an old crush who dumped him for being too young.
Will Davies proves himself a fantastic writer with this book. It's witty and funny, with a deep layer of emotion underneath. Jaz is a great character, clever and smart, and prone to leaping before he looks! His personality becomes clear on the first page when he introduces himself, and writes, 'I've just started my A Levels too, which me and Al are planning to fail, which is our way of saying F*** You to the British educational standard'.
I loved him! All the characters, in fact, were very well-rounded. Characters who initially seemed simple, or stereotypical, soon displayed hidden and surprising depths.
I would recomend this book to ...

Manufacturer's product description
In a work more disturbing than fiction, "the father of graphic novels" (The New York Times) Will Eisner examines the outrageous fabrication of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which purports to be the actual blueprint by Jewish leaders to take over the world. Hatched as an anti-Semitic plot by the tsar's secret police to deflect widespread criticism of the government, the Protocols, first published in 1905, succeeded beyond the propagandistic ambitions of its originators; the lie became an internationally accepted truth. Presenting a pageant of historical figures including Tsar Nicholas II, Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler, Eisner exposes the twisted history of the Protocols from nineteenth-century Russia to modern-day Ku Klux Klan members to Islamic fundamentalists. With an introduction by Umberto Eco, The Plot unravels one of the most devastating hoaxes of the twentieth century and its 2005 publication marks the centenary of the first publication of the Protocols. 500 signed and slip-cased copies of limited editions are also available.
