It is Scotland in the early eighteenth century. Fear and superstition grip the land. Robert Wringhim, a boy of strict Calvinist upbringing, is corrupted by a shadowy figure who... more...calls himself Gil-Martin.
Brought up by a strict Calvinist pastor Robert Wringham believes he is one of the elect ... more
predestined for salvation while all others - including his real father and brother - are cursed. Convinced he is indestructible and above the law Robert commits terrible crimes under the influence of Gil-Martin - his physical double - who claims they are acting in God's name to purify the world. But does this mysterious tempter actually exist? Could he be an agent of the devil? Subversive and unsettling "The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner" (1824) is a compelling psychological depiction of religious bigotry and the seductive effects of power on a tormented soul.

Advantages: Passes the Time Disadvantages: Not as good as the rest of the series
I really enjoy reading James Patterson books, but they are starting to get alittle predictable! I realised who'd done it almost straight away, which kinda spoilt it for me when I was proved right, but it was still a 'nice read'.
8th Confession
8th Confession is the 8th book in the Womens Murder Club series.
We find our main character, Lindsey Boxer, in a more settle peaceful stage in her life. She's living with her boyfriend Joe (although she still keeps his engagement ring in its box) and life seems pretty good.
The story begins with the murder of a 'street person' who went by the name of Bagman Jesus. It's a pretty weak start to the book to be fair and didn't grip me like most of the JP books have in the past (maybe I need to try another author for a while).
The death of Bagman Jesus runs along the main plot which is ...
Advantages: Very enjoyable read Disadvantages: Could it be the last?
P D James has always been a favourite author of mine (although I admit that many years ago I thought P D James was male!).
About the author
Phyllis Dorothy James started writing in the mid 1950s and it wasn?t until 1962 that her book was published (Cover Her Face).

This latest offering has Adam Dalgliesh and his team investigating the murder of Rhoda Gradwyn.
Rhoda is an investigative journalist, who after years of living with a disfiguring and long-standing scar decides to book herself into a private clinic (Cheverell Manor) to have it removed.
What could possibly go wrong?!
As you would imagine in a P D James murder mystery all is not as it seems and the Cheverell Manor holds a deadly secret ...
I was lucky enough to get tickets for the day of its release on the Thursday and this is a film that is just as good as the book, I love the books and the characters that Sophie Kinsella has created and have loved all of the books in the series and the fact that they have turned it in two a film was just fantastic. The audience at the cinema loved it and had a great time laughing and clapping at this great romantic comedy.
