The Real Hustle involves 3 con artists carrying out scams on unsuspecting members of the public. The type of scams vary from being card tricks on the street to selling property which doesn't belong to you. The skill involved also varies greatly. Some of the things which are done take years of practice and others just relying on people's trusting nature and their eye for a good deal.
The shows is on BBC 3 and usually runs for around 30mins. The show has been expanding in recent years, heading to America and other countries. This is probably so they're less well known.
All of the money which is earned is given back.
~~~ Who's in it ? ~~~
*Paul Wilson* - The star of the show. Paul is the one who peforms all the high skill cons and is extremely talented with cards and all that related stuff. He could easily make a fortune using his skills to actually con people, but instead chooses to help prevent you from being conned. He has been involved in movies of the con artist type, such as the Oceans movies and also co-writes the show with Alex.
*Alex Conran* - Alex uses different skills to get what he want from his "mark". His cons are based on trust and making the victim think they're getting the deal of their lives.
*Jessica-Jane Clement* - Jess uses her good looks to get what she wants. She's often used as a convincer, to make the "marks" for comfortable to part with their cash. Her acting skills are pretty good and she provides a vital disrtaction in order for the other 2 to work their magic.
~~~ My Thoughts ~~~
Overall it's a very interesting show. However, I can't help but think that it would cause more harm than good. By showing people how to avoid being scammed you are also showing people how to carry them out.
There's a section in the show where a member of the team tries to win a bar bet. These are simple thing which are good to try out on your friends and family.
The show has been going for 7 series now and there still going, I can't help but wonder how many people actually knew what was going on, but didn't say anything in order to get a few minutes on TV.
Definitely worth a watch 10/10
