Advantages It moisturises my skin rather well, smells lovely and it reduces 'red patches'
Disadvantages It's not a fabulous moisturiser and I often need to re-apply throughout the day.
I absolutely hate shaving and I always try putting it off – only to end up with a bush attached to my face, so it must be done! My skin could be classed as slightly fragile and it dries out very easily, so I must choose the right sort of product to shave and care for my face with, otherwise I’d end up with a rather red and unhappy looking face. I saw this post shaving balm in Tesco one evening and I had already experienced the joys of using the shaving cream by ‘The Real Shaving Co’, so I thought I’d give it a try as an added bonus to using the wonderful shaving cream by the same company. I picked this up for roughly £3 in Savers but this was on special offer and you can expect to pay £2 - £4 for this on the high-street – Amazon currently have it priced at £4.99 with free postage but it seems that this version has been gradually replaced with the ‘Daily’ Balm made by the same company.
*** Information on this Post Shave Balm ***

*** Using the balm ***
This balm is to be used after shaving and the company recommend using it after using their own shaving cream, this is my opinion could be a slight marketing technique as I have used it with great results with other brands of shaving creams and foams with no noticeable difference in performance. The bottle is easily opened with the flip top and the product is easily squirted out onto the hands, ready for application. The instructions on the back are as follow;
-Use daily after shaving with The Real Shaving Co. Shave Cream
-Squirt a small amount onto your hands.
- Massage gently onto your face to soothe, protect and moisturise.
- If your skin is extra dry, apply more than once daily.- Use after every shave for maximum benefit.
Sounds simple enough eh? When they say ‘Squirt a small amount’, I can see why as this product goes an extremely long way. I use a little blob about the size of a button in the palm of my hand and this is usually enough to moisturise all of the shaving areas on my face and neck. This balm spreads easily and it feels very smooth and moisturising while I’m rubbing it into my face and neck without any nasty surprises that some balms can supply - such as stinging and a general greasy-ness feeling. The balm is easily absorbed by my skin and it leaves my face looking very matt and almost untouched, there are absolutely no detectable shiny parts to my face after use and my skin looks and feels fresh and moisturised
This balm has tea tree in the list of ingredients of which helps the skin to heal by penetrating the first layer and encouraging new tissue to grow, it also controls fungal growth (Nasty stuff!
