The Story of the Wicked Witch Of The West

Advantages: Tells the other side of the story
Disadvantages: Gaps in the Story

I read this book after seeing the musical as I was told by my friend that the musical was different from the book. I found it very interesting to read about the history of OZ and understand that there are two sides to every story. The book follows Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) throughout her life from even before she was born to her encounter with Dorthey. The main question throughout this book is 'are you born wicked or do you become wicked?' Elphaba was born green and her parents never let her forget it. When Elphaba grew up she attended Shiz University, at first no one liked her because of her being green and she kept herself to herself. Over time Elphaba made a small group of friends, including Galinda, who eventually got over the fact that she was green and liked her for the person she it. While at University ...

VFR Real Scenery Wales & South-West England

Advantages: Value for money and superb scenery
Disadvantages: High specifications required

VRF RealScenery Volume 3 - Wales & South-West England (PC) Let's start with the basics: This is Compatible with Windows XP or Vista. YOU MUST ALSO HAVE FLIGHT SIMULATOR X System Requirements: Processor: 2.5GHz Ram: 1.0 Gb or greater Hard Drive: 12.0 Gb or greater Video Card: 126Mb or greater Other: DVD-ROM drive VFR stands for "Visual Flight Rules" - this is the way that pilots navigate when they aren't using complex instruments - they look at a map and then pinpoint landmarks on the ground to work out their position. To do this in a flight simulator requires scenery that's exactly the same as the real landscape. VFR Real Scenery is an amazing piece of software that provides just that - fly over England and Wales in Flight Simulator X and sample the view you'd get from a real aircraft. You can see the real countryside from ...

Review of VFR Real Scenery: Wales and South West England (PC)

Wicked The Life and Time of the Witch of the West

Advantages: reinforces that there are two sides to every story
Disadvantages: language is quite difficult for those not used to BIg words

The novel has wonderful imagery and word choice one can picture the events that are being discribed. However, Maguire does tend to expand on this further than needs be. This story is not for someone who has a smaller word bank or someone who is just reading the book without interest. This novel explores the witch of the wests' past and one can see the development of the character to the "whcked witch of the west". The story deals with loss of love one, a families struggle with a deformed child, and single parent families headed by a farther. Another important issue rased is how narrow minded human nature has become, we look for the differeces in people not the similarities, and that those how are different are left out of social events and mocked because of their differences be it skin colour or place of birth or religion. The book is ...
