OK, I admit it....the book was "in vogue" so I bought it. My mother thought he was a "nice boy", a couple of the girls at work thought that he was "a bit of alright" and I wanted to see if he could provide me with some inspiration in the kitchen. And I was nicely surprised. I mean, not only did the book have some great visuals (colours and styling is far removed from fuddy duddy Delia), but there were actually some useful tips on how to be a smart chef. The book has a really great section of all the ingredients you need to stock your cupboards full of unusual ingredients that make all the difference....like capers. Odd looking little green things that I had never heard of before, but which make pasta dishes taste really Italian. And anchovies, stick like little fishes (which make my teeth curl when I think of them), but which make tomatoey foods taste really great. I recommend it to anyone who wants to appear as effortlessly good at cooking up some grub as the Man himself. It's not a bad price either, and it's well designed and contempory enough for men and women to have it in the kitchen, as a statement that they take good food seriously. Shame he's sold his soul to Sainsbury!

Advantages: Wide range of recipes from everyday to special occasions, clear layout and photos Disadvantages: Not a cook book for those who aren't fans of Jamie!
Advantages: Fantastic book for the progressive home cook, inovotive and versitile. Disadvantages: Not enough pictures, some recipies with no picure to aspire to.
