One might expect The Satanic Bible at least to offer a few prancing demons or a virgin ... more
sacrifice, but if you're looking for a tour of the house of horrors, this is the wrong book. Far from a manual for conquering the realms of earth, air, fire and water, The Satanic Bible is Anton LaVey's manifesto of a new religion separate from the "traditional" Judeo-Christian definitions of Satanism. While LaVey rails against the deceit of the Christian church and white magicians, he busily weaves his own deceptions. The Satanic Bible claims the heritage of a horde of evil deities--Bile', Dagon, Moloch, and Yao Tzin to name a few--but these ancient gods have no coherent connection between each other or to Satanism, except that all have been categorised by Christianity as "evil". Calling on these ancient names like a magician shouting, "Abracadabra", LaVey attempts to shatter the classical depiction of Satanism as a cult of black mass and child sacrifice. As the smoke clears, he leads us through a surprisingly logical argument in favour of a life focused on self-indulgence. The Satanic Bible is less bible and more philosophy (with a few rituals thrown in to keep us entertained), but this philosophy is the backbone of a religion that, until LaVey entered the scene, was merely a myth of the Christian church. It took LaVey, and The Satanic Bible, to turn this myth into a legitimate public religion.--Brian Patterson, Amazon.com

The book called the SATANIC BIBLE (aka. The Black Book), is written three years after the Church of Satan is established by its founder Anton Zandor LaVae (1930-1997), and have never seen its light of day for publication until another three years after by 1973 – and ever since from this point on, the book have often gathered mainly a lot of readers, who are much likely levelling among those on the crowd of the wrong audiences. Why this is so, is because that mainly its readers are those of the merely curious, the scoffing prejudiced, and/or those who think that they could gain something from the book which level on the cheesy, the bizarre, and the perverted -- ‘sickos’ whom Anton LaVae would term in referring to as the ‘Losers’, whom he often attempted to dodge and avoid in associating with in his lifelong profession as the infamous founder of the Satanist movement, rather than those who are clear minded enough to decipher the very essence that the book may have to offer of its substance.
Primarily the ‘Book Of Satan’ is written as a means for mockery to the Christian’s Bible – as the church that LaVae founded known simply by the name The Church of Satan – intended to parody the Christian church itself right from the start. It seemed apparent that the primary motive of LaVae is to set a new form of ideology into the stream of humanity for the most part, an ideology defying the commonly known norm of accepted moral standards. The book however is not a bunch of mumbo-jumbo and those of what could be commonly conceptualized whenever the mention of demons, monsters, and the Devil is heard, but the book rather have dabbled more on the side of the philosophical, and mainly siding on the practicality and the common sense of things which is the credo for what the Church of Satan actually stands for. The book contains certain items which pertains to this reversal mockery of sorts to the Holy Writ, inciting such contents like the Nine Satanic Statements, and the main book portions which are composed of the sections: FIRE, AIR, EARTH, and WATER that consist of the main elements which are well associated with the practice of the occult.
><><><><><><><><><><><><<><><><><><<><><><><><><><><>><<><><>< The book is divided in the following sections =
FIRE:BOOK OF SATAN- The Infernal Diatribe 27
A section of verses comprised of five short chapter sections, quite similar to the Biblical format like those of Proverbs or Lamentations. Containing the statements that reason out Satanism in the way Anton LaVae have conceptualized them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AIR:BOOK OF LUCIFER- The Enlightenment 37
Consists of twelve sections which includes the statements regarding the falsehood of the Christian God, Satanic Sex, the Vampire life style, Human Sacrifice, Religious Holidays, and the Black Mass.
Whilst the former section could refer to a mixture of the concepts of ‘Satanism’ and (if you could consider it as such) “theology”, this part of the book composed of Five chapter sub-sections – are basically referring to the outlines with regards to Satanic Rituals and the occult practice; so much so like a manual indeed, the basic tenets of the Satanist’s creed, all in the manner of Satan Worship.
The term Belial as tagged in the title for this portion is the Hebrew form for Baal the bull god, worshipped by the ancient nomadic religions from the ancient past; and according to certain records are the god(s) which originated from Mesopotamia – even tracing it all the way back to the age of Nimrod. Certain documents are found that archeological findings found relics that pertain to this papal bull god in the ancient town of Nineveh, amongst other gods and idols, pertaining to what was also recorded in the Bible.
With its title labeling the word ‘Leviathan’ - it is the beast found on record in the Bible much akin to the legendary Loch Ness monster by description which is rumored to have been frolicking about in the southern seas of New Zealand (hence its name pertains to the place where it was reportedly cited); and quite by ‘scientifical’ speculation refers to one of the dinosaur species that lived amongst the seas, an amphibian of sorts. So’s with what is symbolical of the Sea -which is meaning death, and this creature from ancient biblical text – perhaps the idea of calling this section as the Book Of Leviathan refers to the abysmal creatures or forces that this part in the book dedicates itself for, by its location from where LaVae claims to have tapped in to these ‘supernatural’ forces.
Divided in six sub-sections, it consisted of the ff: I Invocation to Satan II The Infernal Names III Invocation Employed Towards the Conjuration of Lust IV Invocation Employed Towards the Conjuration of Destruction V Invocation Employed Towards the Conjuration of Compassion VI The Enochian Keys (The nineteen Keys will be listed here in chronological order)
The main creed of Satanism is to make the most of life, not necessarily to the point of overindulgence that would lead to the abuse of oneself and ultimately to dissipation in its finality in the result -- but to make the most of every possibilities and to saturate in all of the opportunities that may come around with all of what life could have to offer. And so enters the philosophies of Satanism, which are not being far from the doctrines of the so-called ‘human-idealisms’.
So much so to the habitual behaviour of the American characteristic to take something which came from another source and claim it as their own, the philosophies of Satanism are never far from the infamous british Satanist Alister Crowley, who bid to self-profess himself as The Beast being spoken of in the Bible (Revelation 13), who’s main dictum is to “Do What Thou Wilt” (and quite apparently the rewards of that credo are reaped as seen in his life that ended in a great number of diseases and the state of bankruptcy); plus there is also the intrigue with regards to the copyright infringement matters concerning the Pentagram that appears on the cover of the SATANIC BIBLE, which originally appeared in the book by Maurice Bessy called A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF MAGIC AND THE SUPERNATURAL that is published in 1964, two years prior to the time that LaVae founded the Church of Satan. The copyrights however, are won to be registered in the lawful rights of LaVae’s church.
On another note - if on the aspect of any falsehood that could may be cited in all of the platforms instituted by Anton LaVae -- there's quite an amount of paradox to this self-instigated integrity that LaVae poses, wherein he indicated the truth about keeping a healthy doze of sincerety and not groping for popularity to keep a person from being corrupted and be retained in a healthy stature of integrity, thus to evade vanity, but it's wquite peculiar that LaVae stated in the Washington Post interview that it's about time that he should be given credit for what certain form of influence he had instituted in certain circles.
>>>Moving on, like certain books with their own oblique nature, it’s best to understand a little bit about its author in order to fully comprehend the book concerned.
THE AUTHOR ANTON ZANDOR LaVAE at the age of 16 left home and joined the circus, and worked as an accordion player for strippers with the likes of the then unknown Norma Jean (ie. Marilyn Monroe), and Jayne Mansfield – who according to LaVae have become among his lovers and flings. At this point in his life, he would sideline to work as an organist every Sundays at the local church; where he regularly sees the people who are lusting at strippers on the strip bars where he plays the accordion, who would then appear so penitent with their wives and children at the church, but the following week he would see them again back at the carney, doing the same old things all over again.
This have made a strong mark of impression for the young Anton LaVae, that made him realize that man’s utter natural mentality would always be carnal (a fact that the Bible wouldn’t even deny), and those of the church clergy are full of complete hypocrites. However, these accounts are the only data that we have about the author’s younger years prior to his own personal evolution of what he became known for, and the majority of them are all only according to LaVae’s verbal testimonies himself. We have no idea of LaVae’s background with regards to anything else that LaVae might had done or committed during in those times, and given with a person who promotes taking on anything with any possibility that a certain opportunity might come along the way regardless of any moral code – how can one expect to fully trust someone to say everything specifically real, with regards to truthful integrity in that sense. LaVae died in the first quarter of 1997, and his role is succeeded by the former-born again turned monster rockster Marilyn Manson, whilst his group the Church of Satan continued on with a number of successors along with his wife - pertaining to another stage of evolvement, now comprising as a collective unit than with a singular leadership for an institution.
The book includes a forward written by Burton H. Wolfe, stating that as far as psuedo guru’s are concerned, Anton LaVae is no hack but is completely sincere and is of the authentic kind. A certain magazine article featuring LaVae have even stated in an implied pun that the church of Satan’s founder is one Real Good Guy. However, it is later found out that LaVae when still working as a Barker for a Carnival – was approached and commissioned by Hollywood’s Occult consultant (and follower of Crowley) Kenneth Anger, for LaVAe to pose as the founder and front man for a project that Anger is about to embark on; thus according to this report LaVae rather plays more on the aspect as a scapoegoat of sorts for the Church of Satan – call it as something like that of a Mascot if you will. But all in all, the end result for the organization is that LaVae have indeed turned out as its driving force and main ‘ring leader’ if you will.
On another interview that appeared in the Washington Post magazine (February 23, 1986), LaVae is asked as to whether if he would find out that there is indeed an entity of a benign person of the God that is commonly believed in by many, would he turn his self around. In response, LaVae stated that it is all too late for him, and that there would be no deathbed confessions or any kind of that stuff, kind of like that of the sinner who confesses faith in Christ who is crucified along besides Jesus on the Cross, LaVae is said to be affixed within himself that there are no stuff of retribution whatsoever for this man at all.
The Satanist doctrine/teachings also do not profess a belief of worshiping the Devil, but rather on the contrary as in LaVae’s beliefs – the Devil (or Satan for that matter) is nothing more but a figment of man’s created imagination which have welled its way into the society from ages past, as a fictional/symbolical entity for the “evil” carnal nature in man, and similarly on the other end -God symbolizes the opposite of what ideal liberalisms that the Devil have in mind for mankind (ever listened to the lyrics of Led Zep’s “Stairway To Heaven”? You’ll get the picture), that with these conceptual beliefs as according to LaVae, impedes man in their progress instead, than rather allow every individual to accept their nature and free themselves of being entrapped to the tyranny of trying to be something whom they are not (such as of those in the scriptural edicts of God – in LaVae’s views).
In another sense – with these given platitudes, how come the Book of Satan not only contains a section devoted to the subject of magic and the elements of its rituals thereof, but it is even implied in the book as well as in the Church of Satan’s practices that there are oratory chants, prayers, and rituals that don’t imply to mean anything but the worship of Satan itself? The reason for those is that since the Devil is (as according to LaVae again) a symbolical figure for the natural force(s) of man’s nature, LaVae also believes that Satan only represent that supernatural force wherein he was able to tap into – and he believes that it IS no supernatural force at all, but a higher form of science! As in the scenario if you were to present a television in the presence of King Arthur -those in the time of the Medieval period would believe it to be a work of magic instead of technology. Thus the purpose of the ‘Satanic ritual(s)’ IS --, by conjuring the oratorical ‘worship’ of Satan – you draw these forces and use it for any means that you may deem to wish and/or accomplish.
In referring to the biblical depiction of the devil where the ‘concept’ originated from to begin with- the Devil, originally named Lucifer (ie. The “Light Bringer” or ‘Bearer’) was cast down from heaven in the dwelling place of God when he began to desire in his heart to replace God in the throne, as recorded in the book of Ezekiel chapter 28 verses 12 to 19:
You were the model of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God…
You were anointed as the guardian cherub, You were blameless in your ways, Until wickedness was found in you…
and on Isaiah chapter 14: You have fallen from heaven, Oh morning star son of the Dawn You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven I will institute my own throne above the heights of God, I will sit there enthroned amidst the assembly I will make myself like the Most High.”
But you were brought down low, Into depths of the abyss in the horrible pits.
In reading the book that LaVae wrote, it comes to the point that a couple of possible scenarios would pop into the mind of its readers.
SCENARIO ONE: First possibility = To think it for a while that LaVae have indeed tapped into the Real Truths no matter how unconventional it may seem; -now, as according to him – that the figurative Devil actually is the one which stands for our beneficial side and not the other way around – then, all we have to do is turn our backs in all the concepts of morality and just do as we see fit. But then again this case wont work out, for a) given with the reality that all of us have varying degrees of opinions, needless to say this is not bound to work out, for we would only want each of our own way with things – as it is inevitable that the concept of real harmony comes as evasively illusive like the light of day within a cave for the world we live in, and b) to take away morality’s tenets – we would all be bound to the rule that “only the strong would survive” and thus would result to something that would ring too similarly with the Leninism and Marxist regimes that have been witnessed for all the world to see, until ultimately, there’s the likelihood that the last man standing would terminate himself because there would be nothing more left to terminate in the process. That's why God would often pass the buck of blame to Satan, since the Devil turned away from His Divine authority - thus in a way, that God bore a grudge for the devil.
SCENARIO TWO: The conventional “God is the good side while the Devil is on the Bad side” concept = Now to consider this theological precept in all that we have been originally familiar of – it gave us the key of understanding to see in the light of a con-man trying to convince (or rather dupe) a customer into his bargain, like take for example any simple bloke would know that in order for a used car sales man to sell a totally fluked out car he would have to make it appear to the buyer that it’s a great deal, by covering up the true condition of the cranky car that he is selling. And so it goes similarly with the devil by permeating the truth with lies, he’d disguise himself as a Mr. Goody Two Shoes; and no! he’s not the bad guy, don’t get him wrong. It’s God who’s actually on the bad side of things, not the other way around. So'd the debvil would like to make you believe...
Personally, reading the SATANIC BIBLE even tempted me to succumb and even subscribe to their ‘religion of anti-religion’. Say for a hundred US$ bucks you’d get your lifetime membership with their red card (and not to mention (and yet I’d say it anyhow) you’ve got something to look forward to of spending the rest of your reservation for an eternal vacation in hell during afterlife ~kidding) that entitles you to a number of the groups ‘special’ offers and other extra curricular matters that may tickle your fancy – maybe it’s because that I find that I could relate to some of the things (reasonings) that THE SATANIC BIBLE spoke of, and a little moral support of finding that a certain outlet could relate and see the same way that you did ( and to even detract away some of your boredom along) wont hurt, other than that the common Christian circles could have their general buffooneries at times which are infuriating enough for your disappointment. Anyhow, it occurred to me though that the whole scenery about these things comes as something like when Jesus was led away to be tempted by the Devil himself , while Christ is fasting for forty days and nights (see Matthew 4:1-11).
For me with regards to the stature of having a belief in God-- it have always been the case that there are ‘ODDS’ to either believe (because of certain miraculous phenomenons and the wonder of the Bible’s contents and history) and not believe ( due to the crazy stature of the world in general, and the imbalance of the God-subscribing clergies throughout history) in the concept of that there is an Almighty infallible God in control over us all.
However, no matter what -I wouldn’t personally recommend this book to anyone, given with the dangers of its mystically captivating allure to pull in convincing its readers with its arguments’ rationales – I don’t see it healthy to boost a person’s self-centered ego and encourage them along, when the world suffers enough problems already that are caused by the general selfish nature of most people in the world at large.
Advantages: Learn things that are rumors. Disadvantages: Those who are Christian may not want to read this book as it goes aginst that relgion.
...to be looking to join the religion to read this book its not like the Christian bible that goes from verse to verse it is actually one of those books that you want to keep reading so that you know what is seen from the satanic point of view. Im not a religious person but I got to admit I related to this religion the most out of any that I have read about the concepts in this book are things that you use every day of your life without realizing it. ... ...know what your thinking "What the heck does he know." But trust me this book is a must read, I've read it twice myself already.
General thing the book talks about:
Book of Lucifer (Air)
Book of Belial (Earth)
Book of Leviathan (Water)
Book of Satan (Fire)
It also talks about Satanic sex ritual,
How the concept of "hell" was made,
And even what the devil really is.
(Additional stuff added)
Because people seem to of wanted more info on this ...
