This is just an overview or insight into the world of Microsoft Agent. Hopefully it won't bore you to tears! This is merely meant as a general informative review about the product, rather than the technical in depth how to install/setup sort of review (apart from a bit at the end). That might come later, depending on how this is received!!!!
Microsoft Agent is a technology, generally included as part of Windows XP (Home or Professional Editions), that enables you to use characters (or 'Agents') to 'humanise' applications, create 'talking' websites or presentations etc.
This basically means you can have a character that appears on screen that can carry out basic tasks including saying 'Hello, welcome to our company' when someone looks at your website, or 'Hey, you have mail from Fred Bloggs' when used in conjunction with 'Agent ...

Advantages: Great prose style, interesting plot Disadvantages: Some archaic attitudes hiding away

The opening description of the vessel afloat on the Thames (where this tale is told) draws the reader in immediately with the sheer beauty of the language and vividness of the picture it paints. When the narrative then recounts Marlow?s tale, the style changes to reflect his idiomatic speech patterns. Of course, sixty or so pages of words that were allegedly spoken can never be entirely convincing ? no-one speaks in such a way for such a sustained period without a script. But you do get a strong sense of a real personality telling this story and of the reactions to it in the rare moments when ?our? narrator breaks into Marlow?s story to comment on the manner of its delivery. Conrad?s style is hardly flowery, his sentences are generally short and of a fairly simple construction - this keeps ...

I had to read JosephConrad's Heart of Darkness for my University degree and will admit that I personally found it quite tough going, despite the book being ever so short in length, 111 pages in fact. After writing a 2000 word essay on a particular aspect of the book however I found myself being drawn into the story and have know come to if not like at least respect the book.
When Marlow was a young child he would spend hours staring at the blanks spaces on maps and when he found one that particularly interested him would exclaim 'When I grow up I want to go there'. Now older he still has a passion for adventure and despite the fact that those once empty spaces are now coloured in by the colours of the empires that own them he still wants to travel there.
