The Secret - Rhonda Byrne

I prefer fiction to self-help. However, Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret” had me totally engrossed. I found myself completely immersed in the book. Many thanks to Rhonda for sharing the book with us! This book was recommended by a close friend. I’m glad I decided to read it.

The Secret caters to men and women of all age groups and backgrounds. It has a number of stories, examples and incidents that one can relate to. They are all real!

The problem with us human beings is that we tend to over-analyze events. We tend to sell ourselves short. We are full of self doubt. We don’t believe in our potential. We choose to be complacent. We settle for mediocrity when we deserve better. The Secret empowers you to achieve what you are meant to achieve. It empowers you to believe in yourself and tap into your true potential. You are likely to feel inspired!

The book has hard-hitting, inspiring quotes by prominent professionals and personalities. Some of the quotes that left an impression on me are as under:

You are the only one that creates your reality.

Learn to become still and take your attention away from what you don't want, and place your attention on what you wish to experience.

When you want to attract something into your life, make sure your actions don’t contradict your desires.

The book emphasises on the importance of The Law of Attraction – like attracts like! It is this law that governs the universe. Once you understand this law and follow it diligently, you will attract abundance in your life. Whether you need money, whether you are seeking a fulfilling career, whether you are looking for a fulfilling relationship or you want to be happy, the law of attraction will work for you. While the law makes sense, it is not easy to incorporate it in real life. You need to work at it – consciously, ardently and diligently.

We all understand the importance of having a positive attitude. However, it has been beautifully illustrated in this book. It actually empowers you to think positive thoughts. What’s more, you feel empowered to keep negativity at bay! As a matter of fact, negativity breeds more negativity! Whenever a negative thought comes to your mind, make a conscious effort to replace it with a positive thought.
