***The Expansion*** This expansion pack allows an incredible social life option for your Sims. Although in Sims 2 you are able to go shopping, this expansion allows for so much more. An additional town is added which allows the Sims to go clubbing, bowling and go to restaurants.
***Dating*** Your basic Sim is able to date without this expansion pack but this gives you a helping hand to help find your Sims perfect partner. There is now an "Ask on Date" option in your Sim's social circle button. Simply click on the Sim you want your Sim to date then select "more.." then "Ask on Date". Your Sim is given a limited amount of time to reach the Dream Date level. Once you've reached this level, the Sim's are usually head over heels. After the date your Sim will be given a love letter, a single rose or a bunch of roses by their date depending on what level you reached. To reach a dream date level, your Sim needs to complete a certain amount of date aspirations. A "date meter" will appear as soon as you've asked another Sim out on a date. An aspiration meter, similiar to your Sim's own but in blue, will appear showing you which level you have reached. To the left of that is the aspirations your Sim wished to complete while on the date.
To find out if your Sim is attracted to a certain other Sim simply go onto the friends and family button at the bottom of the screen on the blue panel. A lightning bolt thumbnail will appear beneath the photo of the Sim meaning that there is chemistry between the two. But, if a lightning bolt with a cross through it appears, it's a no-go area! If your Sim is out on the town looking to pull, simply click on them and select "Scope Room". Click on your friends and family icon again to see who your Sim has selected good chemistry with.
The dating aspect of the expansion works well. If your Sim really likes another then they will happily spend the rest of their Sim life together. On the other hand, you could make your Sim a player!
***Group Outings*** Your Sim can now form groups via their telephone. Select Groups then Manage groups and decide who you want your Sim to hang around with. A group can either come over to your Sim's house or they can all go out for a night on the town. There are two types of groups you can create "Just for Fun" and "For an Outing". When the groups have gone out, it will be scored and timed liked a date would be. There are also possibilities of getting rewards if you're successful during your outing.
This can be a bit difficult to achieve all the time. Some Sims are happy to do one thing whereas some of the group may find it boring. I have had difficulty trying to make it a really good time.
***Vampires*** A strange thing to add to the Sims I thought but netherless it is there. Like any other Vampire, your Sim vampire cannot go out in sunlight, if they stay out past sunrise their needs will plummet and will soon die. In order to keep your vampire in complete comfort during the day buy a coffin. If you wish to turn your Sim back then call the gypsy woman and ask her if she has any potions. Your Sim also has the ability to influence their friends to cure themselves too.
I haven't actually seen a vampire for the whole time I've had this game, neither would I want my Sim to be a vampire, maybe if I created a Sim I didn't like much, but not MY Sim. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places for the vamps? I've also heard on the net that you can get your Sims to become werewolves. Check it out.
Apparantly Grand Vampires lurk downtown and if you make your Sims too friendly with them then they might become a night-walker themselves!
***Inventory*** Your Sim now has a personal inventory which can carry nearly anything. To use it, select the Rewards Panel and then click on the inventory button.
***Out and About*** Sims can now see neighbouring buildings and can visit them by simply clicking on the rough sketch of it.
***Downtown*** This is the new addition of places to go. Downtown includes all your Sim's nightlife needs.
Bowling - Whether on a date, out with friends or a peaceful family night your Sim's can now play bowling. It also increases their body skill.
Night Clubs - A resident DJ will keep your Sim's dancing the night away.
Restaurants - If you want a family meal, a nice posh place to pop the question or a few giggles with the mates then Downtown offers a wide range of restaurants to suit your evenings mood.
***New Styles*** The expansion adds four new more styles to the game: Bowling Cars - for the home lot only Nightclub Restaurant To access the collections click on your Buy or Build Mode button and select the Collections icon.
***Rewards*** ReNuYu Senso Orb is an electrifying gadget that can turn your Sim's life around by changing their life aspiration. You can purchase this from the Aspiration Reward panel when you have enough aspiration points. To gain aspiration points, you must satisfy your Sim's wants.
This can be quite helpful when your Sim has a ridiculous life want such as "Have 6 Children" which I just can't cope with!!!
***New Items*** Dj Booth - This can be purchased for either home or community lot and will help with your Creative Skill level.
Poker Table - A pretty fun and time passing thing to do. Invite your friends round for a little bit of gambling and really make a night of it.
Electro Dance Sphere - A good way to build your body skill but the better your body skill when you get on it the better you will be able to cope.
Coffin - Buy a coffin if you have a vampire. It is an essential!
Karaoke Machine - Also helps to build your creative skill level but maybe do it in the private for the first couple of times because other Sim's won't hesitate to Boo you.
Photo Booth - A nice addition to the game for family photos etc. Your Sims can also WooHoo in this!
***New Aspiration*** The expansion pack adds a new aspiration for you to choose when creating your Sim. The "Pleasure aspiration" makes Sims love anything involving fun and comfort but hate work and stress - like your normal human being. The ultimate goal of a Pleasure Sim is to live a life of luxury and enjoyment.
***Graphics*** Graphics are great as usual. The new addition of being able to see alotments next to where you are are poorly done but only because it makes it easier for the player to have great graphics on the alotment their Sim is on.
***Sound*** Once again, the expansion pack allows for great sound effects such as the bowling ball hitting the pins at the bowling alley. Not a fault wrong here.
***Playability and Enjoyment*** The pleasure aspiration can be a little tricky due to trying to keep up with your Sims wants and balancing other aspects like their jobs. It takes a while for Downtown to load so I rarely go there as I can't be bothered for the wait. The game is still enjoyable and although some things I rarely use, i.e DJ Booth, I do get a lot of fun out of buying the Sim's cars, matchmaking the Sims and creating groups to have a night at my Sim's lot.
***Conclusion*** I wouldn't say it is an essential expansion to have but you do get a lot out of it such as the cars, dating experience and knowing that I can have a great night out for my Sims in Downtown. I would recommend it even though I said it's not an essential just because of all the possible things it could offer you. It is a great game and can be a lot of fun if your computer is faster than mine!

Before I get into the gritty parts of the game, I must make clear that it is an expansion pack, made to add things on to the original. You WILL need The Sims 2 to play this.
That said, let's get on with it. Nightlife boasts one of the biggest features that Sims fan's everywhere could ever have ... ...and the fun of the game has increased by a longhaul. The biggest downside with the Sim games before was that however hard you tried or looked, you could never actually buy a car for your Sim and see him reverse it down his driveway. ...bought my own copy of the Sims 2 game I knew I wanted this expansion pack with it, so I bought the new Sims 2 deluxe pack which includes both games on one DVD rom disc. The reason I wanted this one so much is that I think it's important to own it if you want to get full enjoyment out of the Sims 2 as it has so much to offer on it.
It was originally released in September 2005, around a year after the Sims 2 was released. It's a big expansion pack ... ...other sims, then this is the expansion pack you need. As well as new random characters, there's also vampires, DJs and gypsy matchmakers. Matchmakers can be used to set up sims on a blind date, or to buy love potions and vampire healing potions. With this expansion pack, sims can be bitten by vampires and become vampires themselves. Once you have a vampire sim, they can bite family members and friends too. Owning a family of vampires is great fun ...

I've been a fan of The Sims sinse I was about 13 and would play it for hours on end... well ok, days on end, but why not!? It's definately my favourite game of all time and when The Sims 2 was released I think I liked it even more. And now every 6 months or so an expansion pack is released, but my favourite so far is Nightlife. Not only because of there being more objects, but because it adds a little more realism to the game. Usually your sims can ... ...but now they can leave the original map and go "downtown" or to a town that you've created yourself (although this can be a lengthy task). Your sims can even do this with friends and not just members of their family! And the best thing about all this is that your sims can now drive there in their own car that you buy from the catalog!! The game only comes with the choice of a few cars with different colour variations, but it is now possible to download ...

...is an expansion pack for The Sims 2, the specifications are the same as for the original game. However it is recommended that you have atleast 512MB of RAM, otherwise the game will run really slowly, plus take ages to load.

Well, ?The Sims 3? has just arrived, I've got my copy and am just getting to grips with it. However, it requires a fairly high-spec PC, and mine already struggled with ?The Sims2? because I have the full set of expansionpacks (it was reasonably OK up to the last two expansions, Free Time and Apartment Life, and now it really suffers).
For those who have still not had the pleasure of playing either The Sims or The Sims2 and are curious to give this wonderful, fascinating Life Simulator series a go, but your PC is not high enough spec for The Sims 3, I highly recommend getting yourself a copy of either The Sims2 base game as depicted above, or the newer re-packaged version ?The Sims2 Double Deluxe? which contains The Sims2, the Nightlifeexpansionpack, and the Celebration stuff pack.
