When I bought my own copy of the Sims 2 game I knew I wanted this expansion pack with it, so I bought the new Sims 2 deluxe pack which includes both games on one DVD rom disc. The reason I wanted this one so much is that I think it's important to own it if you want to get full enjoyment out of the Sims 2 as it has so much to offer on it.
It was originally released in September 2005, around a year after the Sims 2 was released. It's a big expansion pack which adds a whole new area, Downtown, to the game as well as a whole load of other features and new characters. Downtown is basically a place your sims can visit once you have this expansion pack. Here they can dine out, visit sculpture parks, go to night clubs and shops as well as meet other sims that come on this expansion pack. If you want sims to go out and make friends, and even fall in love with other sims, then this is the expansion pack you need. As well as new random characters, there's also vampires, DJs and gypsy matchmakers. Matchmakers can be used to set up sims on a blind date, or to buy love potions and vampire healing potions. With this expansion pack, sims can be bitten by vampires and become vampires themselves. Once you have a vampire sim, they can bite family members and friends too. Owning a family of vampires is great fun too, only they have to stay in coffins all day. When sims go dontown to a nightclub at night, there's usually vampires hanging around. There's loads of places to visit downtown, and when sims go there you get a big list full of them to choose from with descriptions of the places. Sims can go on dates together to dine out, or they can meet people in the Lost in Love hedge maze! As if all these great features wasn't enough, Nightlife also adds a new life aspiration - the pleasure aspiration and sims can also own cars so if they have jobs there's no need for the carpool. For this, your sim household needs a driveway which is another feature you get with this expansion pack.
Nightlife also adds a new design of swimming pool, and there are other features as well that affect sims relationships. One of these is that sims can become furious with each other, usually by cheating on another sim. This makes the sims worst enemies and they fight with each other whenever they are around each other so if you have two worst enemies in a household, it's best to keep them away from each other! This can be resolved however if the sims become friends again. This makes the game even more interesting! The attraction feature is also new to this game, and this shows you which sims have chemistry between them making it easier for them to fall in love with each other. After a sim goes on a date, their date an also leave flowers for them, or hate mail if the date didn't go well - this is another great feature of this expansion pack. This pack also adds 125 new objects to the sims 2, including new clothes.
The Sims 2 Nightlife expansion pack not only provides a whole new area for sims to visit, as well as people to meet there, there's also many new items and new ways for sims to interact with each other. Overall I'd say it's essential to the full enjoyment of the Sims 2 as it fully enhances the games capabilities and just makes it all the more fun and interesting. If you already own the Sims 2 but not this expansion pack then it's available new at around £15, but if you don't own the sims 2 at all then go for the Sims 2 deluxe edition as this includes the original game plus this pack with it and you can get this for around £29.99. I paid £25 on the Play.com traders but this isn't available at the moment.
