world is your oyster - buy a plot of land and then fashion an empire to make Alan Sugar belch. The lowdown:The idea of a Sims business tycoon game may seem odd, but this is a surprisingly fun and accessible expansion. Although you can stay at home and create items to sell, most businesses are run from a new shopping centre area, which you can also visit separately. To run a shop you buy objects as normal, and then display and price them individually, or in bulk for your store. Running a restaurant or other service is more a case of creating the right mood with furniture and staff. You can hire and fire employees as you want, but its worth being as hands-on as you can because you gain a wide range of new skills from the work you do.Most satisfying moment:Starting with a lemonade stand and building up your business empire until you can afford to buy any plot of land in town.Since you ask:As well as all the business tycoon elements the game also features 125 new items, including display cases, workbenches, cash registers and more. The bottom line:Another surprisingly generous and innovative expansion pack.Harrison Dent

Advantages: Open your own business, new distric added, new items/styles added Disadvantages: not a lot more added compared to other expansion packs
Having the first PC game Sims 2 was not the end for me. As I found more and more expansions to buy my computer slowly started to crash - for me it was a scarifice I was willing to take. I hadn't heard a lot about Open for Business as I did for the Sims 2 and University expansion pack. I was unsure what I'd get from it but knew it would be worth my money.
***The Expansion***

***Starting a business*** If you want a home business, then all you have to do is pick up the phone or go on the computer. You the select the business option when the phone/computer options appear on your screen. The select start home business and voila - your an entrepeneur.
If you'd rather keep work and home seperate you can purchase a community lot. To do this click on the phone or computer again. This time select Real Estate from the options menu and click on Purchase Community Lot. Simple as ABC.
Like all businesses, there are some things you will need to start your business. If you wish to sell objects then you have to purchase a Cash Register. You can find this in the buy mode under electricals. To charge the sims for spending time on your lot then buy a Electrono Ticket Machine, found in electricals, which will charge Sims on entering the building. If your Sim aspires to have their own salon then a Ug-No-More Makeover Station, one of the most strangest names, is required. I think this is found in chairs/sofas/bed section. The Sims recieving a make-over will sit in the chair and a screen will pop up. From here you can customise make-up, hair colour, hairstyle, facial hair and eyebrows. If your Sims wishes to be the next Michelin Star owner a podium, industrial stove and tables are needed for the restaurant.
A necessity is a Open/Closed sign, can be found in decorations, You can select the hours you are open and closed and decide what time your employees come. To get your employees to the lot before you open click on the sign and choose call in employess. To open your business click the sign "Open Business" do the same again when you wish to close but click "Close Business". When you close your business, your employees will stay on untill you send them away. Click the sign and select "Send Employees Home"
***The Game Screen*** When at your business, you can tell how close a Sim is to buying something. A Buy Bar is above the Sims head the more the bar is filled the closer they are to buying something. When the bar is completely filled they will find the cashier to ring up the items they want. For the Makeover Station, the potential customers will stand looking at the Station, when the bar has filled then they want a make-over. However, you don't need this for the restaurant or time-spending lots.
***Added District*** Open For Business adds another district which you can find in the top left hand corner in any neighbourhood. It will be in a long blue bar and to select it you click on it's icon. The added district is called "Bluewater Village" although there are a few homes here, pre-made, it is mostly a shopping district. You can build your own homes after purchasing a lot so it doesn't matter so much that there aren't that many pre-made homes.
***Business Controls*** Once you have opened your business a set of new controls will appear in the top right hand corner. It is a circle with 7 different buttons. The Star Button - This is your customer loyalty option. You can check how the Sims who have been to your business feel about it. Yellow is good and red is bad!
Employee Information - Here you can look at what skills your employee has, what talents, their wages and more.
Cash Tracker - Here you can have a look at how much money your Sims business is bringing in.
Business Information - Have a look at the overall information about your Sim's business.
Business Build Tool - Click on this button then any object in your business to sell. The For Sale Tool and Wholesale Mode and accessed here.
Business Perks - After you have gained so many loyalty stars from your customers, you are rewarded "perks" This button will let you view what "perks" your Sims have earned or select new rewards when you have enough stars.
The Two Arrows - On the right of the circle tool box are 2 arrows in a button. Select this if you wish to hide your Business controls.
Rank - At the very top of the control circle is a rectangle with the word Rank: when a number. This indicates what rank your business is. Like the perks, the more stars you have the higher your business rank.
***Hiring** To hire Sims to work for you pick up the phone or go on the computer and choose Business ---> Hire Employees ---> For this Lot or For Community Lot
***Talent Badges*** If your Sim has a high skill level then they can earn badges for their expertise. The badges come in bronze, silver and gold. The higher your talent badge the better you will be at that specific job.
***Crafting*** Your Sims can now make things. There are three work stations available Toy Work Bench, Robot Work Bench and Florist Work Bench. You can sell these with or without a business.
***Added to Sims 2*** Styles - There are three new different decor styles to choose from: **Storybook - "Add a bit of ornate whimsy to your Sim's world with this style reminiscent of gingerbread houses and the stories that go with them." **International - "Modern, sleek and functional, this style lets you Sim decorate their homes and business with maximum flari and minimum fuss." **Euro - A neo-classical look fit for any of your Sim's deocrating needs, this style's clean linges add grace and elegance to any room or structure."
Items: **Elevators - "Going Up? These people-movers can take your Sims to new heights... especially when two romantically-inclined Sims are aboard". **Ug-No-More Makeover Station - "Ready, set, makeover. Give a Sim a brand new hairdo or make up style but beware of unskilled beautician Sims who may dispense makeover catastrophes." **Lemonade Stand - "Refresh the neighbourrhoos and earn a few Simoleons! But be careful not to sour any relationships with bad drinks or your profits might go down the drain." **Antique Cash Register - "Tot up purchases for customers and take their money- the old fashioned way!"
***Graphics*** Once again, the graphics are brilliant but not much has changed from the first CD Sims " in the way of graphics. Still they are fantastic!
***Sound*** Once again nothing different from Sims 2 but the sounds and sound effects from the first CD were amazing so these too are just as good.
***Enjoyment*** I got a lot of enjoyment out of the game. At times I felt frustrated because I couldn't get my business to do very well. I found some parts of the whole business thing a little too complex to master such as trying to keep my employees happy and making more money then I'm spending. It was though very addictive just like the Sims 2.
***Conclusion*** This has followed wonderfully and is an amazing expansion pack. It's highly enjoyable with hours of addicted fun spent on the computer. The idea is unique and gives that extra something to your sims. It has given the game more enjoyability and is well worth the money. It is a small expansion pack unlike Sims University but still what they have added is good. If you have Sims 2 this is a must have. Bring the entrepeneur out of your Sims and make them lots and lots of Simeleons.

Review of The Sims 2 Open for Business Expansion Pack (PC)
Advantages: Adds many new features of gameplay, gives more variety to the game Disadvantages: Hard to grasp at first, takes focus away from other aspects of TS2
As the third expansion pack for The Sims 2, Open for Business brought a completely original level to the game - being able to have your Sim own their own business, and hence "go to work" with them, earning money for your Sim at the same time.
The game allows your Sim to open either a home business, or purchase a community lot, and create a business from there. You can sell pretty much anything available on the objects menu, or offer a service, such ... ...Open for Business - within the business you create, you can hire and fire employees, create a uniform for them (and you can choose from a new array of business clothing, including giant monkey suits for toy shops, and aprons for food stores), and create a monopoly of businesses if you succeed.
What I like about this particular expansion is that you feel as though you actually have a clear goal to work towards (as opposed to the vague and sometimes ...

...have been quite obsessed with the sims! The craze started out with the Sims one, which I latched onto pretty quickly! Though when Sims 2 was first released, I didn't really bother with it. However last year I decided to buy the game, and many of the expansion packs to go with it. One of these expansion packs is Open For Business. How productive! When installing the game, you need atleast 512 GB Ram on your harddrive, and you must have the sims 2 disc too. Now befor eyou install this, be warned! If you uninstall this later, all your other sims2 games too will be uninstalled! Now, once it had installed ten minutes later, it was time to play! Loading up, I entered the correct neighborhood. ...who have never heard of the Sims games, here's a brief overview:-
You get to play god! You choose your characters, and make them live their lives, from going to work, falling in love, going shopping and eventually, through to death!
There are many versions of the Sims games, available on most gaming machines, each with their own features. The Sims 2 Open for Business, is what is known as an 'expansion' pack for the Sims 2 game. The main added feature of this expansion pack, is that now, rather than having to make your sims get a job to ...

...incredibly fun just like all the other expansion packs.
Like all the others it's offering you new clothes, hairstyles, decorations, building modes and the chance to start your own business.
Starting your own business can be tricky. It takes a lot of time and effort and really takes it out of the sims running it. You can hire employees so you don't really need to be there all the time but it's difficult to keep them happy. Sometimes they will quit ... ...You can win badges by the amount of work you do eg win a badge for cash register, stocing shelves. If you run a bakery, you can build your cookling levels up.

Advantages: best expansion pack so far to an already great game Disadvantages: difficult to get your business going at first
...for Business*
This is the third expansion pack for the popular Sims 2 game (not counting the christmas expansion pack, but that was more of a small add-on than expansion). This expansion finally lets you go to work with your sims, as they run a shop, hairdresser's/barber's, gym, florists', park.... There are many different businesses to choose from with Open to Business, and its up to you which one you want.
*Opening for Business*
For your sim ... ...your own home.
*Running the business*
My favourite kind of business to run is just a simple shop. To sell items in a shop you need a till, an open/closed sign and items to sell. There is a business toolbar thing at the top right of the screen, which gives you information on how well your business is doing and lets you set items for sale. When customers come to your shop they usually look at an item to see if they want to buy it. When they are looking ...
