...hard earned cash. The cover on the box looks good and enticing enough to make you buy it, but the first thing you will notice when you turn the it on is the poor poor graphics, which is really bad considering the DS graphics aren't meant to be out of this world in the first place.
As usual you make your sim look how you want and then you pick you pet be it a cat or a dog.
Once the game starts there's a bit of reading to do for each menu to help ... ...to get to grips with the cooking, which may I add only consists of a wok on a cooker ring. The most challenging thing about cooking is remembering the correct ingredients for each recipie. Once everything is read (which takes like 5 minutes) the game is so simple it's unbelieveable.
When the game starts a day doesn't last very long, your working hours are 8am to 5pm and considering 1hour real time is 1minute sim time days are very short (even shorter ...

....The addition of a new friend is guaranteed to enrich the daily lives of your Sims! Not only will players have the opportunity to choose from a variety of existing breeds, and hot designer mixes, but they'll also be able to personally design their new friend with the Create-a-Pet feature. The ability to customise gives fans the opportunity to create their ideal pet by choosing their body shape, ... ...them for a romp in the park, outfit them with new pet accessories and even give them a job! As in real life, your Sims' pet will require care and training. Advantages: Nice graphics Disadvantages: Not the Sims, boring, repetitive
I picked up The Sims 2 expecting it to be a portable version of the PC game I love so much. On reading the back it didn't seem to be so, but didn't exactly state what it was. The Sims 2 for DS really isn't anything like the Sims at all, the only simularity in the game being the design of the characters. If you are picking up this game expecting the traditional Sims formula - create a Sim, watch them interact with others, form relationships, etc - ... ...close to that idea. The beginning of the game is very similar, in which you create your Sim, design their face, choose their clothes, pick an aspiration. However, that is really the only aspect of the game that is. Rather than clicking on something for your Sim to do, you ARE that Sim. Using the control pad, you must guide them around the town much like any other roleplaying game. The storyline to the game is that your car breaks down in Strangetown, ...

Advantages: Very simple, Disadvantages: Minimal instructions, limited game play, poor graphics
...and brief.
I found the game, initially, somewhat confusing. No written instructions made for a slow start. All instructions can be found in menus on screen and they don't really give that much information anyway. For example, COOKING. What a nightmare! My Sim didn't eat a good meal for at least a week. It's not easy cooking sim food in a wok over a cooker you can't turn on and off. That said, it is fun following and creating receipes.
Unlike the ... ...earn enough money to buy the biggest house either. There's a fair selection of furnishing for your home but oddly your limited to the number of items you can have in your house at one time. Also, there doesn't seem to be enough room in even the biggest house for some of the furniture. Oh well. You can always buy the stuff and just hold it in your inventory or give it to a friend wirelessly.
Now, talking about friends. Your sim (you) will not MAKE ...

Advantages: Simple Disadvantages: Gets boring after a while, graphics arn't very good
At the start of the game you can create your own Sim, much like other versions, you can choose your Sim's hair/clothes, although there are not that many different choices. You also get to create your own pet; a cat or a dog.
In the game your Sim is a vet. You need to set up your own clinic and treat ill pets that have either: worms, fleas, flu, broken bones, are smelly, are unattractive, or who have swallowed something. As in other Sim's games, ... ...can earn bonuses, by training the pets at the kennel or improving their appearance by giving them clothes. There is also the option of trading items with someone else who has the game.
You can take the pets to the park, but in my opinion this isn't very exciting. You can interact with other Sims, but it doesn't create any relationship. You can play with the pet you bring by going to the kennel; however this is exactly the same as the kennel at the ...
