Disadvantages Need Xbox Live for limited edition pet, not as addicting as on the PC
Review summary
Overall, I really enjoyed playing this game as I am a huge Sims lover and have always preferred this game over any other game. I would hugely recommend it to people ages 10+ despite its age rating of 12+.
Sims 3 Pets on Xbox 360 (Limited Edition version)
Introduction
As an extremely huge Sims lover, I was very excited when the EA team announced the release of the new game that is currently playable on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Pc and a few others. Previously, I had had tonnes of amounts of fun playing the Sims 1 and 2 with my brothers on the Playstation 1 or 2! I bought this game at "GAME" in 2011 for around £30.00, and I was unbearably eager to get home and play it on my Xbox.
What is the game like?
I decided to purchase the Limited Edition version (where you get a quirky limited edition pet for free) which was a little over the buying price for the normal game. I noticed on the case that it mentioned that you was able to play it along with the Kinect which I was impressed with however I do not own one. When I got home and played the game, I was a tad disappointed as you was not able to get horses which was what I mainly wanted. Also, unless you have Xbox Live, you are unable to receive your limited edition pet nor are you allowed to purchase rodents and birds.
At first, you had to obviously create your Sim (or family) to move into a brand new house. You are only able to purchase a small bungalow as all of the other houses' asking prices are over your budget. Though of course, throughout the game you can get a good career and earn lots of money (or just cheat) to be able to buy a great house. You get the average sort of furniture, with a computer, TV, book case, beds, beds for your pets and a few other pieces of furniture.
You have the choice of adopting children or pets if you would rather wait. You just have to live your life as your virtual twin and find romance, happiness or on the other hand, you can be an evil criminal which is pretty fun. Basically, it's just Sims but with a lot more features such as Karma Powers.
Karma powers are hilarious! You have the choice of creating happiness or the alternative option of creating firestorms and meteor strikes. Being mean, I almost killed somebody by setting their house up in flames and it was ridiculously funny watching it. I know it's really lame that I laugh at video games but this was hysterical as after being in the fire for about 5 minutes, the man just casually walked out, got in to a taxi and drove off.
Like all of the other Sims games, I did not find this one as addicting as I prefer playing Sims on the PC.
Graphics
The graphics are great for a Sims game! I mean, Sims isn't meant to look exactly identical to a real person. The game has its own sort of style and looks like it could possibly be a real world.
Sound
Don't fret, you still can't understand the Sims as they blab on in their Simlish language. After all, Sims just wouldn't be Sims without them speaking German-like, don't you agree?
Value for money
I think it was exceptional for the price. Although I prefer the PC version, I recommend that you buy this game if you love playing Sims and the Xbox. Even though there isn't any horses (sad face), I really did generally love this game and all of its features. It was great fun to play however I am now unable to play it due to my Xbox breaking (even sadder face).
