Okay, this is my first review so please don't be too critical...
I have been on a strict diet for the past 3 months, so chocolate, ice cream, and of course any other fatty sugary dessert I felt was to be off my 'safe' list, and instead took to steaming bananas with splenda and cinnamon or freezing a low fat yogurt, both of which can end up around 100 calories and don't satisfy in the same way the old fatty desserts would.
I heard first about Ben and Jerry's low fat frozen yogurt and so on my weekly trip to the supermarket (this time Tesco) I looked into the freezer at the nutritional info-I was quite disappointed at what I saw:
180 calories per 100ml serving? 500ml for a tub... hmm, that wasn't a great improvement on standard ice cream, and it isn't even ice cream. Extremely disappointed, I was about to continue my shop empty handed when my eye caught upon skinny cow...
A nice oxymoron there. The packet was colourful and similar to the friendly style of Ben and Jerry's tub, but with a cartoon cow on the front. Apart from having clearly stated on the packet "Less than 3% fat" and the calorie info, by the name "Truly madly deeply" and the wonderful description of the ice cream I knew I had to try it.
103 calories per 100ml, almost half that of the low fat yogurt of B&J's. Contains sugar and sweeteners.
Following on from a far from satisying meal, my stomach was certainly rumbling. I made certain I was only taking a small portion, I think I served myself less than 100ml! (a fifth of the pot)
The ice cream was full to the top, it looked very appealing, and no crystals of water like you'd expect in a diet ice cream. White and brown milky swirls met the generous swirl of chocolate sauce, and tiny pieces of what turned out to be chocolate coating malt (apparently?) could be seen, though on taste the malt tasted more like wafer... Don't get me wrong. I liked them.
I dipped my spoon first into the different flavors separately.
The vanilla: sweet, I could taste the natural flavour, met quite a few small chocolate coated malt balls in there which was very pleasent as it reminded me of the bulky junk ice creams like Ben and Jerry's.
The chocolate: soo good. A creamy, smooth, flavorsome chocolate. Yum.
The chocolate sauce: sweet but just right, complimented the vanilla and chocolate.
Overall, a truly delicious combo which is it seems impossible to recognise as a diet version.
I will try out the other flavors! A tip for dieters though-practice portion control when eating it or it could become 500 calories!! (if you eat the whole tub, which still is better than eating a stodgy sticky toffee pudding and setting yourself up by 600+!
Advantages: Taste Great and low in fat Disadvantages: at £2.68 for 500ml you wont be able to afford anyother food
...both. After trying some of the Skinny Cow lollys and cones a few weeks ago. I thought it was time to try the tubs.
These come in 500 ml tubs. The same size and shape as Ben & Jerrys ice cream comes in. They also come in a variety of flavours. Completely Mintal, Fun-illa, Truffle Berry Fling and Madly Deeply.
This time im trying the Madly Deeply. This comes in a sky blue tub with a red heart on it with the words Madly Deeply printed across it. Around ... ...a Malteaser. Again at the top is a picture of a cartoon cow, with a tape measure round its waist and a rather full kissable pair of red lips. At the bottom it states the contents are "Generous swirls of chocolate and white chocolate iced dessert, lovingly filled with a rich chocolatey sauce and chocolate coated malt balls." Is it just me or does that sound yummy.
Opening the tub i raise it to my nose. The smell is that of chocolate. There is white ...

Advantages: Delicious, good value for money, low fat/calories, good packaging Disadvantages: Can be harder to find than more popular ranges
...love it! ...:: The Good Stuff ::... Once I've opened a tub of Skinny Cow, I can setlle down and really indulge without feeling so bad about the health aspects. Each 100ml contains 117 calories and 1.1g fat. There are 500ml in the tub. On average if you eat half the tub that's only 2-3g fat and roughly 250 calories which is extremely good compaired to other similar ice creams. But that doesn't mean it skimps on the taste either! I absolutely adore ... ...mixed in are brownie chunks. The taste is deep and delicious and I personally think this rivals Ben & Jerry's! It's just as good if you ask me, yet cheaper and lower in fat if that's important to you. For around £2.48, you get 500ml, compared to B&J which retails at roughly £4+. I have noticed however that Tesco often have offers on these at £1.99, so keep your eyes peeled! ...:: The Not So Good ::... I actually cannot think of anything negative ...

Advantages: Nice taste, mixture of flavours, low in fat. Disadvantages: Expensive Expensive Expensive, Not that easy to come across
Skinny Cow?? No not me the ice creams mainly sold in Somerfield and Asda as I have not yet spotted them elsewhere.
My fascination started off with the sticks but thats a whole new review :-)
The tubs I came across last week in my local Asda Superstore for the first time after seeing them advertised for absolute yonks!!!
However there were only the 2 out of 4 varietys available.
Completely Minted as it is called is Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream ... ...is maltesers type sweets in the ice cream as they are more like the sweets called millions. Some of them were not even crunchy just hollow tasting but all the same it did not stop me sitting in front of a slushy film with a teaspoon scooping out mouthfuls yuuummmmmmeeeeeeeeeee. GBP2.48 per tub and that is only 500ml, its ridiculous, it seems the country is all obese yet low fat foods cost the earth, I dont exactly earn much so it is quite expensive ...

Advantages: Tastes delicious, guilt free Disadvantages: Ran out far too quickly
...spends ages staring longingly at the Hagen Daz having that internal battle over what you want and what you think you should have? Do you eventually either have to tear yourself away and head for the fruit and veg or buy it, scoff the lot, then spend the rest of the night feeling like a blimp? Well, no more - hello Skinny Cow! I had the Truffle Berry flavour and not only did it sound gorgeous (white and milk chocolate ice cream, raspberry sauce and ... ...tub) and a fraction of the fat so no need for the age old debate.
In response to other reviewers who seemed to think it was very expensive I'd just like to point out that at £2.68 a tub it is still much cheaper than either Hagen Daz or Ben and Jerry's. Oh, and I got it in Asda for £2.00...bargain!
Anyway, to the most important thing - how does it taste? Flippin' lovely as it happens. Easily as nice as the most decadent brands with the added bonus ...

I had heard about the Skinny Cow range for ages and all i could get was the lollys. But while shopping in my local Morrisons spotted 2 for £5.
I thought i may as well give it a go and see what the hype was. The only flavours i could get were Mintal (mint) and Truffle berry fling.
The portion sizes are set out on the tub. In each tub there are 5 portions. Although they are small portions. I must admit i had the whole tub in one go.
My review is ... ...with choc mint mini balls.
The only problem i found with this ice cream is that it is not enough, you just want to keep eating it.
Although it is low fat, it is only 95 calories for a small portion, therefore is nearly 500 calories for a tub.
Overall:
Ice cream tastes yummy, a cross between a choc mint ice cream and mint choc chip ice cream.
Very expensive.
Also very small portion for 95 calories.
It is was cheaper would certainly buy more ...

Each 110ml lolly contains 82 calories, 14.2 sugar and 1.0g fat and 3.1g protein. It is suitable for vegetarians. These lollies do have a high sugar content but if you compare them to a Crème Egg Ice Cream Lolly they sound a little better (Crème Egg Lolly: 240 calories, 21.4g sugar, 14.4g fat, 3.3g protein).

See also www.skinnycow.co.uk. SkinnyCow products also include tubs of ice cream including one with the great name 'Completely Mintal'.
Finally I would recommend SkinnyCow Strawberries & Cream sticks. There ...

Advantages: Tasty, nutritious and a real treat Disadvantages: Not orgainc or fair trade, and high in calories
, because I do go on about how nice this is and how much it really cheers me up when I've had a down day and she can't have any - instead she has to have diary free or 'skinnycow' alternatives, which i have been so unfortunate to try and can say theres nothing enjoyable whatsoever about eating a skinnycow. You feel quite ill and worse off afterwards, never mind how much they cost too, last time i checked it was about £2.49 for a 4 pack of skinnycow lollies! Thats the same as a whole tub of this strawberry cheesecake scrumptiousness.
The texture is an interesting and full bodied one as it is full fat REAL diary ice cream they use, it not only fills you up, tastes like a real mouthfull on the tongue but also is rich in flavour and creaminess. It's a sweet and interesting ice cream as the little cheesecake bits add a bit of munch to the smooth ...
