Advantages: great read, good suspense Disadvantages: none
I have been reading books by the author Joy Fielding for as long as I can remember. Her books can best be described as psychological thrillers and in most cases I have been on the edge of my seat from the moments I have picked the books up. 'Charley's Web' had a slightly different feel to it though and although I enjoyed the book very much I did not really experience the usual tension until towards the very end.
The book is about a character called Charley Webb who is a somewhat provocative journalist for a Florida newspaper. She writes a weekly column that often provokes and shocks her readers which consequently leads to a lot of interesting emails and letters. Most are complaints but alongside all her regular post, she receives a letter from Jill Rohmer, a convicted child killer awaiting execution on Death Row. She wants Charley to ...

Advantages: A stylish and original thriller. Oh, and it has Rachael Leigh Cook in it! Disadvantages: None that spring to mind...
I?d never heard of this film until I saw it listed in Rachael Leigh Cook?s filmography on another DVD. After scouring the internet, I managed to find someone selling it for a bargain price, so thought I?d give it a go as it looked quite an interesting film.
Basically, the story begins with a guy in hospital suffering from amnesia, being interrogated by a female detective. He looks badly beaten and as his memory slowly returns, the detective is trying to piece together the events that lead up to his arrival at the hospital. Two of his friends are missing, and it transpires that the three of them were involved in a love triangle. The detective needs to untangle a web of jealousy and deception to get to the truth. To give anymore away would ruin the film for anyone who hasn?t seen it, but let?s just say that not everything is quite ...

Manufacturer's product description
Sir Richard Burton was undoubtedly one of the greatest personalities of the Victorian age: soldier, explorer, traveller, anthropologist, scholar, consummate linguist, skilled swordsman and prolific author. As one commentator remarked: 'No Englishman of the nineteenth century lived a more romantic life'. In this penetrating study of an exceptional man, Jon R. Godsall has thrown a far wider net over Burton's life than previous biographers. Painstakingly researched and containing a wealth of new material never before used, "The Tangled Web" will appeal to all those who are fascinated by the exploits and achievements of this multi-talented, if controversial, character. In 1853, Burton made his famous pilgrimage to the holy cities of Medina and Mecca in Arabia, closely followed by an arduous journey to the forbidden city of Harar in the Ethiopian highlands, service with the notorious Bashi Bazouks, and a trail blazing expedition with John Hanning Speke to the Lake Regions of Central Africa. After visiting the Mormon community in Salt Lake City, Utah, Burton served as HM consul at Fernando Po in West Africa; Santos in Brazil; and, Damascus, from where he was ignominiously recalled by the Foreign Office, and Trieste, where he lived out the rest of his life. During this time, he was able to work on translations of the great Portuguese poet, Camoens, as well as his sixteen-volume edition of "The Arabian Nights" and "The Kama Sutra". He also translated "The Perfumed Garden", the unpublished manuscript of which was burnt by his wife after his death.
