If your the type of woman who wants bronze golden skin without the damaging effects of the sun but also can not be bothered with applying fake tan then an air brush tan is going to be just right for you.

There are many tanning shops popping up in high streets and shopping centres. Many of the sun bed centres and nail boutiques also now offer this as another beauty service.

They apply the tan by a special spraying machine which is a long tube with a nozzle on the end. The spray is used as it makes the application easier and there are no noticeable marks or streaks.

Most places you don't have to book but if it's on a busy high street you may prefer to book yourself in and get an appointment. I phoned in advanced and was told on the phone to shave, exfoliate and moisturise my skin the day before my appointment and on the day not to wear any perfume or deodorant as this can interact with the tan.

I arrived five minutes before my appointment time and was taken into a dressing room where I was told to take my clothes off except underwear. I choose to wear a bikini and it's up to you whether you want to take your top off or not.

I was given make up remover and some cotton wool to remove all traces of make up and to put on a hair net.

You are told to stand in the booth and wait for the lady to attend to you. She instructs you on how to stand and what to do so you get an even tan.

The whole experience doesn't last very long as it is so quick to cover your body.
I was a little nervous about having my face sprayed but I was told to close my eyes and a fine mist of tan covered my skin. It didn't get into my eyes or mouth and it didn't smell.

When they are spraying you, you can hardly feel it on your skin it was that light. The spray doesn't smell and doesn't contain any aerosol so it's harmless. The spray dries instantly on your skin.

You are able to get dressed straight away as there is no drying time. I was shown a mirror and I was speechless on how brown I looked! I looked like I had spent the last month on holiday it was that good. There where no marks where my natural skin ended and the tan began! I was really impressed with it, it was so even and a really nice colour.

I was told by the shop assistant to not wash or shower for 12 hours afterwards and this will take the tan off and will make it look patchy and also to moisturise my skin with a normal moisturiser every day as it will pro long the life of the tan.

I wanted to keep the tan for as long as possible and kept moisturising my skin each day. After the forth day it was beginning to gradually disappear and the fifth day it was almost gone. I removed the patchy bits with a buff and I was back to normal.

I paid £20.00 for my tanning experience and I think it's well worth the money. It's perfect if you have a special occasion to attend to so you will look great!

If you want to know where you can have this done in your area then search on yell.com for tanning centres and call them and ask if they do the air brush tan.

I think £20 is a bit pricey - I use a spray tan and it only costs me £6 - good op tho xxx

Good op. Some girls had this for our yr.11 prom and they all ended up looking streaky and orange!

Sounds like a good option before going to the beach showing how pale you are.
